Ok first off, if this has already been suggested don't bite my head off. But I think it'd be cool if they added blocks of food that you could use. I know that there's already melon blocks, but I think they should add steak blocks, pork blocks, chicken blocks and wheat blocks. It has the same purpose as diamond, gold or iron blocks: to store it compactly. That's it
Wheat needs a compact-able block form. So you can place it down and have all your animals herd around it instead of you when you're trying to moving chickens only out of the cow pen.
But maybe the food blocks could heal your entire food bar, no matter how empty it is. Or something like that.
No, bad idea. Food is for the hunger bar. If you want your health filled, get a Golden Apple, Potion of Healing or Potion of Regeneration.
Yet carrying 200 cubic meters of cobblestone, 10 diamonds, 100 bars of iron, a pickaxe, a sword, and 30 logs in your pockets is realistic?
Carrying all that may not be realistic, but it doesn't horribly shift the balance of the game. Any realism can be good if it doesn't dig into gameplay too much to make it unenjoyable. I'm not saying your food blocks would ruin the game, but it's completely unnecessary.
Having blocks of Iron, Gold and Diamond makes sense, because they are all very useful resources and giving them compact storage makes them even more useful. Food is used for just eating, and feeding a tamed wolf. Having blocks of steaks or pork is just weird, even by Minecraft standards. Food does not have the wide variety of uses that Iron, Gold and Diamond have, so food doesn't need the "compact blocks" feature.

Gold blocks will be used for Enchanted Gold Apples in 1.3, which is coming out Tommorow (If you live in America, so don't rage at me for lieing)
Iron blocks are used for Iron Golems
Click them or they will click you
