With the introduction of cheats (commands) into Minecraft, there have been a number of previously mod-exclusive commands introduced into Vanilla Minecraft. Well, I have to state a couple of things before I continue.
Vanilla Minecraft SMP is incredibly lacking in features that would allow for a proper server. With the way the Minecraft community functions, with a Vanilla server, griefers are nearly impossible to deal with in any way.
Vanilla Minecraft SMP has no means to protect your own builds. Not a single way to protect a single thing, other than the spawn.
Now, look back, quite far, and remember the long-dead /Solid command. Bedrock at our disposal. With creative mode, now we have bedrock. But who amongst us wants to build something magnificent with bedrock? Nobody, or maybe that one strange person who is just plain absurd. Imagine, if you will, a revival of that command:
/Solid. It would be a toggle, to place blocks with a modified resistance level, equivalent to bedrock resistance. This would be particularly simple to code, and would affect very little, while still being a significant improvement to the game.
An alternative, while less fanciful, would be to simply make players who are in creative mode, place said unbreakable blocks without having to lose immersion to type a command. 'Well, what if I want the blocks to be breakable?', you ask. Well, I ask you, why would you want a survival player to break something that you've placed in creative mode?
So I hope this could someday end up in Vanilla Minecraft, and allow server administrators to more easily deal with the problems that arise from running an SMP server.
1. If you don't want pepole on your server, just keep it singleplayer, the idea of a LAN is a terrible idea anyways
Just install some protection plugins, Vanillia is crappy for a non private server anyways
(Saying there is a mod for that is not aganist the rules as long as i contribute to the suggestion)
Hes not saying hee doesnt want people butting in and griefing, he is talking about when he has a server that he wants, and wants spawn protection without plugins.
You're kidding me, right? Your logic, is that Vanilla SMP sucks, so get plugins instead. Why not instead make Vanilla better? There is nothing wrong with actually improving upon the game. Why should I have to go get a server-wrapper and plugins to keep my SMP server free from grief? There is nothing inherent about Minecraft that says multiplayer is bad. It's bad in Vanilla, because it is flawed. I gave an existing flaw, as well as, in my opinion, a reasonable solution to that flaw.

I myself like the idea a lot.
Unless english is not your first language, can you please try to use proper spelling and grammer, I don't use proper spelling but still, I want to understand what you mean, but this can also be abused on private servers

Thats not my logic, its that you need to find better ways to protect your server then to resort to Mojang and not be lazy, Mojang already found a crappy anti-hack so there grief protection won't be good
That's absurd. You're saying that I should abandon hope for Mojang to improve their game? That's not realistic, and that's lazy as well. There shouldn't be a need to have to resort to a server-wrapper. The bukkit team is working with Mojang. When the Mod API is finished, there will no longer be bukkit, because it will be unneeded. This is simply a step towards that goal. The game should include decent server software, and there is no reason not to.

Really? Building stuff that shouldn't be broken isn't the only thing creative is for. Maybe you place down diamond ore as a part of a competetion. Bottom line: You sometimes do want ppl to break creative stuff.
