Please add a no-health mode. I think it's really unfair how you can die.
Hahaha I'm hilarious.
In truth, this just isn't needed. The old system is only superior if you're a master at avoiding damage yet also hate growing food/killing any sort of animal.
Please add a no-health mode. I think it's really unfair how you can die.
I literally choked on my own laughter there.
In all reality only lazy people who want a game fit only to their own interests would support this idea. Minecraft isn't about options. The only option that actually affects game play is and will hopefully always be difficulty itself (except of course for the obvious world generation options).
I'm not trying to be rude or disrespectful, but I give you absolutely no support whatsoever. People who can't handle the hunger system can move on to a different game or make a mod for themselves. (Oh no! I said mod in the suggestions forum! Well get the heck over it. A no hunger option is nothing short of stupid.)
Saying you don't want to collect food to sustain your existence. = Remove Hunger
Is identical to:
Saying you don't want to collect materials to sustain your mining. = Remove Durability

It's hard criticizing ideas when one is tired, so you'd better appreciate it when I criticize yours.
Let me put it in simple terms for you to understand
Beta 1.8 and above: Two skeletons and a Creeper, oh no I seem to have left my all of my food at home, but it's ok I have a hunger bar so any damage I take, my health can be regenerated.
Beta: 1.7.3 and below: Oh god! Two skeletons and a Creeper, I'm gonna die because I need food to regain my health and I left it all back home, I'm boned.
What I want is a little bit of challenge in Minecraft, that's it. I still think a classic mode would be nice, for nostalgia's sake at least.

...What.
Due to the way regeneration works, it heals you at a pathetic rate during combat. You'll probably recover no more than a single heart during the entire fight, presuming that you aren't getting hungry already. If you survive the encounter, it's not because you were healing at an extraordinary rate during the fight.
With the old system, you could jam three pieces of bread up your nose and restore yourself to full health.
Also, tell me that I don't "get" the game because I didn't play Alpha and I will blow a fuse.
Lol at the people that have never played Alpha... Most people remember when there was no hunger. I am among them.
Let me put it in simple terms for you to understand And by simple, you mean twisted around so dumbasses would be fooled, right?
Beta 1.8 and above: Two skeletons and a Creeper, oh no I seem to have left my all of my food at home, but it's ok I have a hunger bar so any damage I take, my health can be regenerated. You restore 1 Heart ever 8 seconds, if two skeletons were attacking you, you'd be dead before you restored a little over 1 Heart of health. And that is ONLY if you have a nearly full hunger bar.
Beta: 1.7.3 and below: Oh god! Two skeletons and a Creeper, I'm gonna die because I need food to regain my health and I left it all back home, I'm boned. Indeed. You are. Just like last time. If the circumstances were different and you DID have food, though, you'd be Rasputin and their hits would seem like they are throwing sticks of butter at you, tempting you to eat more bread.

"Minecraft isn't about options"
What the hell? Before you make a bunch insults to 'lazy' people, just realize this: adding an option will NEVER do a thing to you, unless you want to use the option.
Also, maybe people want to have a no-hunger option for something other than being 'lazy' sluts. Maybe it's because we want to experience minecraft PvM, or even PVP for servers, in a different and/or nostalgic way.
I'm really sick of people in this thread, no one gets the point.

No. Failed analogy. Reason why is that you can't simply hold a cooked beef in your hand and expect it to stay there; in 1.7.3 and before it healed 4 hearts and was gone. Your pickaxe analogy lets you make a pickaxe for life. in 1.7.3 you still never had food for life.

Ok i'll be serious here, I've had my fun.
I could get all of the stuff in a mod or use mcnostalgia to be honest.
I actually hate the old system, just getting a few laughs all in good fun, for me at-least.
But in a way I do miss Alpha, all the fun glitches it had, especially the ever tasteful Fence glitch where you were stuck on a fence for a infinitum amount of time.

It's not a failed analogy. You still have to make the pickaxe to use it, and then you are good with that. Eat food and your health is good with that. The only difference is you lose health while you live, while you lose tools when you die.

Creepers are not a little thing. Some people like to play survival without everything being exploded. Who are you to decide what things count as "little"? Getting food isnt hard, except for the first few days.
Creepers might not be (I could see easy difficulty disabling the block damage,) but an option for "everything" is definitely going to far.
It's not hard at all, but it's annoying. Wandering around, gotta eat, gotta eat. Building stuff, gotta eat, gotta eat. If I wanted to manage real life needs I'd play The Sims.
Sorry for the double post. Let me explain why. If we would have an option for everything, you would sit half an hour or so to choose what things should belong in the game.
Well if you don't want to spend "hours" configuring stuff then leave them at default. No one is forcing you to use those options.

While I am relatively neutral on the subject of the hunger bar (as in, I don't care much either way), I'd like to point out a couple things:
First off, all the people who say if you don't want hunger, play on peaceful/creative: Peaceful has no mobs, and creative has infinite blocks and no damage. What if some people want to fight monsters, and not have unlimited everything, but like the health restoration as it was in 1.7 and below?
For those who say it would make the game too easy: Are you kidding? Fighting was way harder in 1.7 and below because every little bit of damage accumulated. If you lost, say, two hearts against a zombie, you couldn't sprint away or hide for ten seconds and have the damage magically disappear, and then run back and continue fighting. While I agree that while in combat with a skeleton or zombie or creeper or whatever you don't become invincible from regeneration, but I died a good three times as much before hunger got introduced than after in the same amount of time. If you didn't have food constantly in your hotbar, you died. End of story.
For those who say it would open a door to all sorts of options: We have world options, we have difficulty toggles, we have starter chests, we have commands, we have lighting options and graphics options and all sorts of sliders and toggles. There are already tons of options, and one more won't make a difference. If you don't want to use it, just don't toggle the hunger bar off. It's not that difficult.

Lastly, I was bored, and so I made a banner.
Is that why you made a "No More Hunger Bar" banner?
Would you like me to make a "Keep the hunger bar" banner as well? Somebody asked for a banner a few pages back, I gave them one. You don't see me using it in my signature.

there is a big difference between no hunger with survival and creative mode.

Implying a few random items and the ability to turn on cheats is the same thing as modifying a core game mechanic.
Touched a cactus, gotta heal. Shot by a skeleton, gotta heal. Fell a few meters, gotta heal. Swam too long, gotta heal.
At least it's a direct consequence of the player's actions. You can avoid getting damaged, but you can't really avoid walking.
