I've noticed that sometimes mobs drop things that they wouldn't normally drop, like zombies dropping iron things and skeletons dropping bows.
I've also noticed that they are very rare, now my suggestion is a simple one.
Not flashy or anything like that but here it is... maybe mobs should have a higher chance of dropping things when they are hit with a critical hit? I'm not sure of the current chance they have but hey why not? Leave some CRITicism!

I don't think fighting them in a certain way should increase the chance of a rare drop. It's not realistic, it's exploitable, and it's not fun. There is absolutely no reason for it, then... And multiple reasons against it.

Two, it may not be fun but it would save time No, it wouldn't save time, it would let swordsmen who like jumping up and down get rare drops more often.
if not crits then why not enchantments? Because I have no idea what your argument is supposed to be right here, and Enchanting is unbalanced. Besides, looting is already a sword enchantment that increases drop rate. Unfortunately for me.
