In the new 1.3 update, where writable books exist, it would be sort of hard hovering over every single book you wrote, trying to figure out which is which. But to add to decor and also organization, books should be capable of being dyed and arranged based on what color they are. And to add to 1Yeko1's idea of bookshelves, and having the texture of the block change with each book added, each book added would correspond with the color of the book you just added, assuming you colored it, and if you didn't color your books, the texture would be a poop-colored mess of a decor block. Coloring books adds a slight organization mechanic and fabulous decor.
You can dye books any color on the spectrum (any color minecraft has to offer at least) and I think the text, when you hover over, should be colored the same color as the book.
EDIT: Also, you may stack books of the same color up to 64, and it can be used to sort genres and the such.
Example:
Green are books of crafting recipes
Red are books of brewish combinations
Yellow are tips on farming
etcetera

This idea is good, but book customization shouldn't stop at color.

It's hard criticizing ideas when one is tired, so you'd better appreciate it when I criticize yours.

What did you have in mind? Gold banded (gold bands on the stem or whatever it's called) books?
