I have noticed that although iron golems can be a good defense they often get lost or fail to protect villages.Possibly it could be made so they will try follow light posts(as in they will try to get to a light post then go to the next). They will also go towards doors getting attacked by zombies up to 32 blocks away.I have also noticed that they will attack snow golems if hit which could distract them and weaken defense.I think one way to fix this is make it so they will not attack snow golems if they are hit by one.
Perhaps if you could get them to patrol an area, but I haven't seen any problems with iron golems leaving villages. Then again, villages are almost always too small to spawn a golem, so I don't know how big of an issue it is.
Snow golems aren't found in nature, so for someone who's raiding a structure guarded by iron golems (which could be walked past...) you could plop down a snow golem and it would serve as a distraction for iron golems. If you're using one to guard a structure, then you don't really need a snow golem since they deal no damage and golems decimate mobs anyway. I don't think they even attack iron golems, do they?

Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?

Snow golems will hit an iron golem if it gets in between the mob and snow golem seeing as they do not notice other mobs than the ones they are targeting.
The problem is that iron golems are meant to protect villages which don't have rails.
Well, obviously they would still wander around if there were no rails...I had hoped that was obvious. It's like the current zombie AI: If they see the block, they go towards it. Except that they would then continue following the path as a Minecart would. It means that they wont patrol your castle if you don't want them to, but if they do it's an effective patrol, not wabbling around, which is good for small, open villages but not walled-in, large castles.
It's also meant to be that way; rails don't generate naturally above ground, meaning a golem isn't going to get stuck accidentally on a random rail pathway; it will only follow a path if you want it to.

Although they can be made by players doesn't mean that its only purpose is to defend players. It was added to defend villages and that is why I think they should follow lamp posts. It could be made so they will go into mine carts if their not a village golem and exit if they see a mob.But village golems should follow light posts.

Except that you can't really well define a lamppost, so it makes more sense to have players able to set patterns for them, otherwise they'll do what they currently do (which is wander within the village border).

I think they are fine how they are right now,
But a village needs more of them.
For me, i dont care about villages that much, i dont tend to live in them

What I mean by light post is the lamps found in villages.

Yes but what he means is if you don't want snowgolems distracting your iron golems then don't make the snow golems, why would you anyway they make annoying snow and do no damage

Snow golems can be very good at distracting hostile mobs and even killing them if put in certain types of structures.

I wanted them to follow rails because it seems kind of logical and sort of "match" iron golems.
