I have a suggestion for the game that will probably never be implemented and would most likely be hard to code, but here it is.
Introduction:
Basically when you sleep in a bed you will have a 3/5 chance of having a dream. Anything will happen in a dream, but when you enter the dream it will go to the loading screen and say "Entering Dream" to notify you about going to the dream realm.
The things that happen in the dream would be very random, like you could enter the dream and you would be getting out of bed surrounded by enderman or you could be in a nice dream but you can't break or place anything. Anything along the lines of that, but if there is a way to code it so there are a few simple guidelines to a dream so the dream would be more random and different every time. There will be a 2/5 chance when you have a dream to have a nightmare, the other 3 percent are good dreams. This would make nightmares slightly rarer.
The way this would work in multiplayer is that the dream would start when you go asleep and you will always have one, this keeps away the boredom on servers when you want to sleep and no one else is. When that happens you go in the dream and you are there till everyone else is in bed. There would be a 6/20 chance on multiplayer to connect to someone other persons dream (tell me if this value is too high), though some people might not like that.
The way it could work:
There would be a list of things the dream has to have, and things it doesn't.
A dream would have to have you, a world and other possible stuff.
A dream would not have to have mobs or health.
Items:
I think there should be new items added along with this. (sorry if the images are two small, I don't know how to enlarge them)
Dream catcher:
This item will increase the chance of having a good dream by 1, you have to be holding it when you sleep for it to work. It can be crafted like this.
Diamond Dream Catcher:
This version of the dream catcher will make you never have nightmares, again you have to hold it for it to work. It is crafted like so.
Shrunken Head:
This Item will increase you chance of night mare by 2 so you will have nightmares more often. It can be crafted like this.
Dream Dial:(Sorry if crafting image is screwed up :/)
The dream dial is used to control your dream by choosing certain parts of your dream. And can be crafted like so.
Sounds... Interesting. I'd support this. Perhaps all items are taken from you during the 'cant place or break' dream. However, what would the goal of this dream be? Experience? Rare drops? Fun? You need to specify a bit more on the goal of it.
Nightmare: Be surrounded by Enderman or meet herobrine or such.
Dream: Maybe possible dreams include being stuck in minecraft 0.0.13a_03, or being stuck in adventure mode, or being in a mine with a big (and suspiciously unnatural) stack of diamond ore.

Here's my take on dreams: if you fall asleep while a Jukebox is playing nearby, you can get either a small cutscene or a minigame you can play for EXP depending on the disc playing at the time. Each dream has a maximum time limit and will wake you up automatically either at time up or if a certain "failure" criteria is met.
Well, I thought about this for a bit, at first I thought it was useless, just walking around in a random area with good/bad consequences, but even if you COULD get pass the bad consequences, what use would it be to the real world? So then I thought about that for a bit, then I thought, maybe if you could somehow craft/find an enderchest in the dream, and suggesting you'd have an enderchest in the normal world, maybe using the enderchests you could send the items from the dream into the real world? Just an idea.

All dreams would be different that is just a somewhat side effect of the dream other things could be mixed with it, there is no goal to the dreams unless perhaps you were to dream about a quest or something. Basically there is a list of things a dream has to have and a list of things it doesn't. These would be put together to form a dream

There is no real point, but it would just add more adventure aspect to the game. The point is just for fun, there is already other useless stuff such as lapis and cookies.

Maybe but not as technological maybe the dream dial could do something like set how long you dream.
