I know there is a thread about changing sneaking, but i think there should also be an ability to crawl in Minecraft. This ability would be different because it would change your hitbox, you could look out over edges (similar to sneaking) as long as your legs stay on the edge, it would make the player less than a 1 meter tall and would make it easier for players to hide from other players. The drawbacks would be that the player moves slower than they would in sneak, their length would increase by 1 meter (in the direction opposite of the direction the player is facing), the player can't use items while crawling, and if the player is hit while crawling they wouldn't get knocked back so it would be harder to get out of trouble. This would most useful in pvp, you could hide from other players in a very small hole that doesn't look suspicious at all. the name showing would work the same as using sneak, if there is a wall between a player that is crawling and another player wont be able to see them and if there isnt a wall between them, then the-player-who-is-crawling's name would be darker.
I do like it. Personally, it's because I want to see a little more possibilities for immersive involvement in the world, including things like being able to sit, lie down, and so on.

Me and my friend were thinking about that, like if your mining and there is a one by one block tunnel you can peek through to check for mobs rather then chargin like rambo. Or durring pvp you can avoid arrows or diminish critical hits like dodging strikes by crawling
I dont really see a reason for this. We have sneaking and if this was to be added to the game why not just change sneaking a little. no support.
I think that just sneaking isn't enough. With sneaking you can only hide in 1 X 1 X 2 cubic meter spaces, which are not very common and usually look out of place, with crawling you can hide in a common 2 X 1 X 1 spaces. It's mostly for pvp servers, i know there aren't very many single player uses.
I disagree with that. There are currently no monsters that can fit inside one by one holes (except maybe cave spiders but I'm not quite sure) so a crawl tunnel would be a perfect fail safe in case of emergencies.
Also once the Adventure Mode is completely finished/optimized then it could be used in adventure maps for hidden tunnels.

I didn't think about using it to get away from monsters, that would be another use (but it does slow you down so you would have to have a head start on the monster) i had thought that there would be two uses in single player (excluding escaping monsters) would be for having fun making crawl spaces and for getting into caves without having a pickaxe. I mostly thought of it as an effective way to hide, maybe it would be very useful in single player if monsters got better AI that made them try harder to hunt down people.
