I had an idea that is about a new mob the Taunter. It came to me by seeing if you get into a 16 block distance with any hostile mob, and flip-flopping it. So instead of the mob coming to you and attacking like most mobs such as the infamous Creeper and Zombie mobs, you'd be lured toward the mob. It only spawns in areas with absolutely no light in Strongholds, Abandoned Mine Shafts, cave systems, Dungeons, and Ravines (whether that is considered part of a cave or not).
Once close enough to it, it explodes like a creeper would except that after the explosion it turns into a troll-like mace-wielding mob that extracts at the player, causing the player to lose one heart. It would have a brown-ish texture to it. How you would be lured toward it is because it would appear as something like a chest that the player would be interested in something as out-of-place as a chest. You should be able to tell if one is near you by seeing something that is "pleasing to the eye". The player should be able to kill it without exploding by shooting arrows at it.
If anybody has any questions on this topic or would like to suggest some stuff to add to this or thinks I should change stuff, go ahead.
It's basically a a dumbed down creeper that turns into some irritating mob after it explodes. Plus if I saw some random chest in the middle of nowhere, I would know to stay away from it.
im afraid that has already been done in two instances very similar but without the explosion part, in the game 'Terraria' you will find a mob called the mimic that mimics a chest and when you come to a certain distance from it, it will attack, a very similar version of the mimic is the chest which can be found in dungeons of the Aether mod for minecraft. In all i like the idea but think that it would be better if it was more like the Aether mod or Terraria's take on the idea. I also completely disagree with the above comment and if they had read the full article they would have found out that the chest would only spawn in dungeons and mineshafts. All in all i think that it is a great idea but unfortunately it has been done before, and adding it to minecraft would hinder the originality of the newer mobs in minecraft such as the creeper or the enderman.
So, essentially a useless mob that blows up, is rare and is ridiculously OP. Bravo Bravo! Can you people THINK good and hard about these things? A good name, health, damage, drop, speed, pictures, ANYTHING! Details We NEED More Details!
How will this help MineCraft? Can it be abused? There are too many factors you didn't cover in your rush to post the topic. Take it slow it gives you time to cover mistakes, in this case how you presented it.

Many things have been done before.
Zombie=Hundreds of games/movies.
Skeletons with bows=Legend of Zelda and many other games.
IronGolem=Laputan Robots
Enderman=Mythical SLENDERmen
My point is IT DOSE NOT BLOODY MATTER IF IT HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE
In its current state, there is nothing I like about it. First, give it a health value. Second, This doesn't make sense at all, even in a game like this. The chest is mobile, and if I see a chest move, that's going to be a pretty big tip-off that something is amiss.If I was enough of an idiot to follow it, why a mace, and why a troll, and how would that fit into a treasure chest, and survive an explosion? No support at all.

I appreciate the criticism, but trolling on this topic isn't going to get anyone anywhere. I admit that it could use A LOT of changes and additions. I said that people could ask questions, make suggestions or change something. For the people who actually listened, thank you. For the people who didn't, I didn't ask you to post a comment saying how much you didn't like this idea. I will think more on this topic and be more accurate when describing the details. I will most likely change the name in which it is more appropriate and will change the description on what it's functions are. I will also take the suggestions from the comments and add them, but all of this will be later on in summer. I thank everyone who took the time in looking at this topic.

How does it "taunt"? I see no evidence of taunting. "Hey knucklehead, I'm talkin' to YOU!"
How much health does it have, how much damage does it do, what does it drop, in what conditions does it spawn*, etc etc etc
*this one is forgivable, noone really pays attention to it. Ever.
Nobody here has trolled the topic kid, if you need a hint on Making suggestions look at
