Technique scrolls can be used to learn new special abilities. These wouldn't be overpowered RPG-styled abilitites, but rather simple things that an actual mortal being could learn to do with practice. The technique
scroll is designed to enrich esploration and combat to the point that you could actualy addopt a personal
fighting style.
To craft a technique scroll, you would put a box-shaped paper formation around an emerald in a crafting table, because Minecraft logic. Now you have a blank scroll that will teach you nothing. So what now? Now, you must get items and craft them with the scroll to allow you to use the scroll to learn the ability. When you use a technique scroll, it is consumed (not literally) and it gives you the ability. Note that you will NOT lose the ability on death. Even if you have an ability, you can always change it by using another scroll.
So, now, what do some of these scrolls teach you, and how can you make the? Time to find out!
Note that all crafting recipes are shapeless.
Scroll of agility.
Recipe: 1 scroll, 2 spider eyes, 1 emerald , 1 feather
What it does: The scroll of agility allows you to master the art of...well...agility!
You walk 10% faster, and you can now jump up to 5 blocks high. Ninja tiem! You also have to fall from higher to take falling damage. The only problem is all that vigorous running and jumping drains your hunger bar more quickly than usual.
Scroll of combat mastery
Recipe: 1 scroll, 1 iron sword, 1 bow
What it does: All of your attacks do 2 more heart of damage than normal, and blocking absorbs 2 more hearts
of damage, making you a formidable up close and personal fighter.
Scroll of bottany
Recipe: 1 scroll, 1 emerald, 1 sappling, 1 pumpkin, 1 melon
What it does: If you love farming, you'll love this little scroll! Anything planted by you will grow twice as fast,
you get an increased drop rate from harvesting any plants.
Scroll of salesmanship
Recipe: 1 scroll, 1 emerald, 2 gold ingots
what it does: Allows you to buy cheaper and sell higher to testificates. Yup. That's all.
Scroll of archery
Recipe: 1 scroll, 1 emerald, 3 bows
What it does: Gravity drags down on your arrows less, and you also do 2 hearts more damage with the bow.
Unfortunately, your melee attacks do 3 hearts less than normal.
Scroll of stealth
Recipe: 1 scroll, 1 emerald, 2 ender pearls
What it does: The scroll of stealth allows you to sneak at walking speed, and when you sneak, your nametag is COMPLETELY invisible. You can jump up to 3 blocks in the air, and you make no sound when taking damage. Also, attacking from behind does 3 extra hearts of damage and a lot of knockback.
Yeeeeh, jumping 5 blocks high seems OP and plain annoying.
Overall, I don't like the idea. They just seem like overpowered potions with no time limit, and yet are significantly easier to make than potions. Balance = absent.

Would be a fun mod though
I am ninja'd far too often.
I like the idea of it being finite.
