Fire Charges should be used as a Furnace Fuel. When placed in the fuel grid of the Furnace GUI and the selected item you want to smelt, it will smelt faster, but it costs 6 uses as a furnace fuel. (since Fire Charges have no durability!)
Plus, the Fire Charge is too overpowered, you can use it as many times as you want. Maybe there should be 100 uses only? And this is also helpful for solving the griefer problem!
All the ingredients are either very flammable or explosive. I think they should be fuel, it'd add more uses for them.
No, coal is already used as a fuel. Gunpowder is explosive, what will happen if you place gunpowder in a furnace? It will explode and you die. Blaze Powder is a good idea though.
In order to get a fire charge, a griefer would have to...
Get wood for a wooden pickaxe
Get stone for a stone pickaxe
Get iron for an iron pickaxe
Get diamonds for a diamond pickaxe
Mine 10 obsidian
Make a flint and steel anyways
Make a portal
Find a Nether fortress
Kill at least one Blaze
Go back to the overworld
Kill a creeper
Then he has an indestructible flint and steel.
Not very overpowered in my opinion.
so you'll combine it with furnace fuel, and it'll smelt stuff faster? Not sure how that'd work, but it's an okay idea. we can already use two of its ingredients as fuel, and for speed craft more furnaces, so it seems a bit pointless.
There's no such thing as a "Bad Suggestion".
All an idea needs is constructive criticism, and it can become great.
I mean.. Minecraft is all about imagination? Right?
The phrase is "There is no such thing as a stupid question". Suggestions can be poorly worded, described, or presented, regardless of what the idea's content. I'm not saying this suggestion is any of those, but I do believe this isn't a good idea and it has probably run its course.

You sure about that? I thought it was only good for one use outside of creative.

Yeah, I tested one out and they are one-use items. I like the idea of them being fuel for furnaces, but I don't know where the idea of them having a durability bar came from.

A griefer wouldn't always have to go through that entire process by himself; fellow griefers and unprotected portals/chest/players can give them the materials they would need. Again, I don't see where the idea of indestructiblity came from.

"Victory is like a watermelon. It's hard to spell and it tastes good."
I'm not sure where it says it should be indestructible, but don't make fire charges durable. They should stay 1 use. As for furnaces, they should smelt the amount of things according to their ingredients so...
Coal/Charcoal = 8 uses
Blaze Powder = Blaze Rod / 2 = 6 uses.
Gunpowder = ... *boom* Yeah... just say 0 uses.
But these ingredients craft 3 fire charges, so..
Coal = 8 / 3 = 3 (2.6666666 rounded up)
Blaze Powder = 6 / 3 = 2.
Gunpowder = 0.
So one fire charge should smelt 5 items, but since you don't make these singularly, each 3 is enough to smelt 14 items. That's 2 more than a blaze rod.

I could see using a fire charge as furnace fuel have the same smelting time as a bucket of lava ... but once the fire is finished, the furnace explodes.
if you guys wouldn't mind i will post:

Godamnit i bet almost anyone here is a griefer,FFS.
i mean fire charges are a infinite use item, why wouldn't a griefer decide to mine, get some diamonds, make a sword, kill person that has nether portal and has potion brewing station, and make a fire charge and watch the world burn?
its obvious every one here is gonna counter now that you just mentioned it, they noticed the power of the fire charge and wants it like it is just TO BURN THE ****ING FOREST, AND EVERY GODDAMN THING.

i agree with this thread.
it should not be infinite and should be able to be used as fuel.

I've actually never used a fire charge for anything other than dispenser projectiles.
