Sleeping. On of the most boring things you can do in Minecraft, besides watching your wheat grow. It fades to black and you wake up. But what if sleeping was realistic? What if you went to bed and entered a realm so fantastic, yet so horrifying that it took your breath away? Ladies and gentlemen, I present: The Dream Realm.
The Dream Realm is a completely different dimension than the Overworld, the Nether, or the End. It is one that does not exist, yet does, and you can interact with what's not there. It's a place that could bring happiness or fear, a land where you can relax or a land where it's a struggle for survival.
Entering the Dream Realm:
Entering the Dream Realm is a fairly easy task. It involves the construction of an Enchanted Bed, however. The Enchanted Bed ensures survival in the real world if death were to occur in the Dream world. This is crafted with a bed in the center of a crafting table, with two diamonds next to it, and a layer of redstone beneath it. This bed must be powered by a redstone current to activate. Once powered, it will automatically send you to the Dream Realm when you sleep.
The Different Dreams:
Depending on what happened during the day, dreams will change each time a player sleeps in the enchanted bed. Factors that determine the dreams are mobs killed, ores mined, and blocks placed.
The Peaceful Dream:
Peaceful dreams occur when a player spends the majority of their time, since the last time they slept, placing blocks. In this dream, the sky is a bright blue, and grass is a deep, hot pink. Many passive mobs spawn, and villages are frequent. There are also many different structures, each containing treasures. It is always day, and no hostile mobs spawn at all, even in caves. Lava also does not spawn.
The Nightmare:
Nightmares often occur when a player spends lots of their time in darkness and fighting mobs. If the player visited the Nether, they will automatically have a Nightmare no matter what. In Nightmares, it is always night, and the moon is blood red. Trees have no leaves, there is no grass, and two new frightening mobs spawn freely there. The first is a Demonic Angel.. These manifest as an angel, emitting light and offering the player a rose. If the player gets within 5 blocks of them, they are engulfed in darkness and fire. They then reveal their true form, a horrifying demon with huge claws. They attack with melee attacks that deal 2 hearts of damage, as well as shooting fireballs like a Blaze at longer ranges. They can also track a player up to 35 blocks away in their demonic form. The second mob that spawns is a Devilish Psychopath. This spawns only once in the Nightmare, and is basically the Devil. He is a giant demon, and stands 10 blocks tall. He destroys blocks he walks on, and shoots giant fireballs. He also spawns mobs from the Nether such as Blazes and Ghasts to fight for him. He laughs manically, and speaks in an unknown language, chanting things that result in giant explosions. Upon death, he gets sucked into the ground, and gets a face of pure horror and terror, spitting Ghasts and emitting a scream that is so terrifying it kills the player. He also drops netherrack, obsidian, and flint and steel. Other Overworld hostile mobs also spawn here.
The Cave World:
The cave world is entered when a player mines a lot of ores in one day. It is a giant underground chasm filled with grass, trees, and flowers. It is basically the Overworld underground. Diamonds spawn abundantly, and glowstone is suspended in midair, lighting up the world. It has many huge mushrooms, emitting a faint, blue glow. The Cave World is also home to a new mob, the Cave Troll. Cave Trolls are large, 5 block tall monsters that will pick up stone and throw it at the player. If hit, the player receives 3 hearts of damage. When killed, they drop smooth stone and iron ingots. Hostile mobs can also spawn here as normal.
Survival and Exiting the Dream Realm:
When the player enters any of the dreams, they can start playing as usual. Upon entering the same dream world again, any progress they made is still there, meaning a player can have up two four games of survival at one time in the same world. Players can only be in the Dream Realm for ten minutes, as nighttime is 10 minutes long. When the dream is about to end, the screen fades back to black and the player wakes up as normal, without any of the items from the Dream Realm.
Please leave comments down below! Also, if you think this is a good idea and you are a modder, please PM me to make it real!
So, wait. Do you enter the dream world every time you go to sleep? That would be rather annoying.
No, he said you need to craft an enchanted bed.
OT: I think this is an excellent idea! Some people (like me) will be freaked out by the Nightmare mode, so it's not for everybody. But otherwise, good!

Sleep serves a purpose. Also this foreword makes it out like this would replace that altogether. It's contradicting and misinformation.

This is all great and all, but we're looking at the practice point of all this. If you say this, but it doesn't have anything to give that effect then I will call you a liar. If it does than you don't need this. It's pointless.
Entering the Dream Realm:

Ah, diamonds. The default method for creating balance when you have no good ideas... I don't like it. First of all, if it's enchanted then why is there no enchanting table involved? What does redstone have to do with this? It's rather unclear.
The Different Dreams:
Depending on what happened during the day, dreams will change each time a player sleeps in the enchanted bed. Factors that determine the dreams are mobs killed, ores mined, and blocks placed.
Well that's a very odd and pointless bunch of code. So you don't want to add a new dimension, you want to add three.
The Peaceful Dream:

It sounds like it could be interesting visually, but your also running around in super peaceful, retexture land and there's no point to any of it. There's not a single new thing here.
The Nightmare:
Nightmares often occur when a player spends lots of their time in darkness and fighting mobs. If the player visited the Nether, they will automatically have a Nightmare no matter what. I horrible hell dimension filled with very not minecraftian satan references... Again, what is the point to this?

So by my count there are only a few new ideas, all bad, a lot of stolen ideas and a three new dimensions which amount to reorganizing the existing blocks without adding a single new one. To top it all off, there's no way to take anything back to the overworld so you'd basically be wasting your whole time for nothing. Why would I spend 10 minutes for nothing when I can just sleep for 3 seconds and get right back to what I want to do?

First off, thank you for a lot of feedback, it made me realize how some ideas did quite suck xD I know the crafting recipes are bad, I'm not good at thinking of those. And also, the Cave Realm would have many diamonds because of extra ores spawning, for obvious reasons. Every ore would spawn more, so I don't know why I didn't say that. And also, the last part you said, it would just mix up the game. You don't enter a dream every single time you sleep, but if you do want to, just sleep in the special bed. Entering a dream would give you the same items you left off with, so you could build many different structures with different materials to give them a different feel. And also, you could've said you didn't like the ideas instead of calling every single thing bad. D: But thanks for the feedback! And the t in your signature is lowercase.......
While this idea is cool, I have some feedback to spice things up. (also sorry that this is 6 years later)
I think normal dreams would be too similar to normal gameplay, and it would be too hard to code in all of the little features...
Or the peaceful dreams and normal dreams can be merged, to have completely absurd creatures and environments, while keeping a safe and peaceful feeling to the dimension.
I also feel that the nightmare dimension should be altered a little bit to instead of being fiery an hell-like, it could instead be an open, barren desert that leads nowhere, sort of having that dreadful feeling players get when they lose their house. Perhaps if you build anything in this world, as soon as you stray a little too far, it disappears (that feeling of losing your items). Of course, this realm could still have nether-esque creatures, but slightly warped and distorted to give that nightmare feel.
Also, while the cave dream is well thought-out, I feel it would be a little too similar to normal cave gameplay, so I wouldn't include this.
One last thing, although these places would be cool to explore, they don't give the players any rewards for taking the time to go through and explore each world. To fix this, maybe you could get XP for doing stuff in your dreams, and therefore give it a purpose.
Very well thought out, but this suggestion is a little rough around the edges for my liking.
I think this would add some diversity to Minecraft besides the boring nether and end. This might also introduce new items that are completely exclusive to the dimensions. I love this idea!

Well you keep seperate inventory in each world. But yes you'd be a little OP in Cave World though...

ok first. http://www.minecraft...custom-graphic/
It's a large kinda cool cave world with TONS of diamonds. This does not belong.
