With the addition of editable books of 1.3 coming to minecraft wouldnt it make sense to let bookcases hold edited books.Cause other than decoration bookcases are really useless. So I have been thinking of this so I thought I needed other people's opinions so your opinion?
That said, this doesn't sound like a bad idea. Not sure how it would be differentiated from a normal chest, though, in terms of how it would store the books.

Most like a chest but has its own bookcase like texture
This isn't a bad idea. People have been asking for this for a long time, but not like this. It would fit Minecraft, and it would make sense, and (kind of) be useful.

Thanks thats the point some small detail also I think it would help adventure maps and be a nice add in the stronghold libaries
I... don't think I'm getting my point across here. Here, have some pics:
Admittedly the Brewing Stand CAN reject invalid items, but that's not exactly a storage block. I'm saying that it seems to me that a similar system would need to be implemented, and I'm not sure if they could do that with these conditions.

I dont really know much about code but just reject all types items except of course the books thats the way it works
FurnaceRecipes.java - Specifies all teh furnace recipes. If there's not a recipe for a specific item, then somewhere in some other code it just tells the Furnace not to do anything. Don't know how this would really help a container though.

I think that all they would have to do is take the OLD chest and design and give it the bookshelf texture or they could do something a LITTLE more advanced than that: do what i just said and have like a book slide out......

Yes, but it will still HOLD the item, as my screencap indicated - and what sense would it make if you could put Diamond Blocks inside Bookcases? Admittedly amusing and a clever place to hide your valuables, but still, lolwut even by Minecraft standards.

No, I meant how it would only hold Books. How it would differentiate itself, in the game's coding, from Chests.
