I believe that minecart track building should be expanded and tweaked a bit.
One of the only reasons i use creative mode is to mess around with minecarts. They are really amusing for a break from SSP But using them i have found three things to be improved.
1. Junctions-
If you have a minecraft rail that splits in two you can use a lever that changes which one you go to. However it always starts on the one opposite of lever and there is only ever one place the lever can go to affect it. So my solution is a junction box. R= Redstone Repeater, E=empty, r=rail, s=stone

sss. This would be a double lever sytem each with 3 points (middle up down) left would control origin right would control exit, and if you set origin and exit at the same rail it becomes a turnaround.
2.Rail Lifts-
Make so that sticky pistons can raise rails.
3. Ramps-
If you make a hill upwards with minecart rails you should be able to launch it if there isn't a rail at the top how far you would go would be calculated. SxH=D (speed times height= distance
When I clicked this I was expecting a terrible wish-list, but this is actually okay. However, I suggest you change the title to 'three minecart ideas'.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...

Oh Darn it i knew i did something wrong, how do i change the title? also when you see the miopian seal of approval trust it to a half decent extent i have been around sense beta 1.0

i was thinkin that too. damn, i hate those retarded noobs and their wishlists!
Actually some good ideas. I was going to say "You broke the forum rules by posting more than one suggestion per topic! but it's some good ideas.
In the new snapshot you can make intersections because you can kind of push your minecart in the direction you want to go.
Also it would be cool if minecarts could fly more a few seconds. I like that the best.
The first one is overly complicated and unnecessary. You can already switch the direction of the tracks with a lever or redstone so I don't see why this is needed.
The second one needs some refinement because it affects how the rails snap to each other and you don't really address any of the technical issues for that.
The third one could be a lot of fun but would require a steady frame rate to be any use.
OP needs refinement, clarification, and editing before I can support.

Well the redstone lever is imperfected because it splits in two but only left and right you can't choose forward and right or left and forward
I would be a huge fan of being able to jump minecarts. I've always wanted to be able to jump a gap between the tops of two mountains r something but instead you go off the edge of a track and drop like a rock.

I don't think getting them to snap to each other would be the biggest issue. When the piston moves from one level to the other it would rail would be treated as if it were being placed by the player. I think one of the bigger issues would be getting your cart to continue moving after it is lifted without getting out and back in.

That's how it's done in real life most often. They almost never split the tracks more than 2 directions because it can cause mechanical failure. The more important issue is two directions is all you can achieve with a simple on/off binary redstone system. The best solution now is to just have two junctions, the first one goes either left or strait, the second one goes either right or strait. Because if you can't control a 3 way junction with redstone, it's very limited and doesn't follow all the other minecrart track pieces which up to this point have all been redstone based.
It shouldn't be added; It's a deviation from the established norm and you can achieve the same results by just using a little more space and the existing junctions.
