Here is my idea, if there is a dispenser, with a dirt block right in front of it, and then a piston directly next to the dirt block facing the dispenser then when the piston is activated the dirt block is pushed back into the dispenser.
This would be excellent for hidden doors; because if another piston was under the dirt block facing up then when that piston is activated that dirtblock can be pushed up. If set up right the dirt block could be retracted and completely hidden and then put back up at a redstone command.
Imagine using a one by one pillar of gravel or sand, This could be used to make an elevator that pushes up to twelve blocks high (because twelve blocks is the most a piston pushes if I remember correctly). Or it could be used to make hidden door ways that can be filled and opened at will.
If set up properly it could even make an epic portcullis or some interesting traps.
Entity blocks cannot be pushed into the dispenser, and neither can obsidian or bedrock.
If there are different types of blocks in the dispneser then the blocks are dispensed randomly.
Pistons can't even push them in the first place, so they couldn't push them into a dispenser.
I actually didn't know that. To be honest I never thought to try. I just assumed the game would crash rather badly if one entity was forced inside another entity.

Why do people have youtube Minecraft videos that claim to be current version but were uploaded months ago?
This is a really awesome idea once you actually sit down and think about it! With this idea, you could add many more possibilities to people's imagination as far as redstone contraptions! You have my support!
I don't like this, partly because placing blocks has always been the bailiwick of the player. However, that is not the main reason I don't like it. Mostly I dislike it just because it will make dispensers not able to just plain pop out the block, which I don't like at all. It ruins some of my contraptions, and lowers the use of the Allocator, which I am still hoping will be added to vanilla.

To be honest I'm not sure I totally understood the allocater, but I think it seems cool.
The Allocator has nothing to do with this, so don't concern yourself.
This is broken on several levels. First, dispensers can't place solid blocks (only mine carts, boats, water, and lava), so you making it behave in a way it never has before. What happens if I want to use a dispenser to give people dirt blocks now? I can't do it. Second, this really doesn't give you the ability to do anything that couldn't be done before in Minecraft (as far as making a portcullis). It doesn't save space or make it run faster. The limitations we are faced with when creating a portcullis would still be present with this mechanic. Finally, this would allow many blocks to be placed or taken without using silk touch.
No support. This isn't really a step forward, it's just a complicated mechanic that alters how the dispenser behaves to the point that it is completely changed. The only way you'll be able to make a portcullis any easier to make would have to require something like a magnetic block that can push and pull multiple blocks without being directly connected to a device. Anything else requires massive amounts of redstone, doesn't look very good, or requires a system to make groups of blocks behave like entities.
You all have a valid point... its too game changing...
Is there a way I can discontinue this?

What if there are different types of blocks in the dispenser, how would it know which block to choose?
Also you should note that entity blocks and obsidian and bedrock should not be able to be pushed into the dispenser.
Thanks for the advice.

Aren't all blocks that can be interacted with or interact with the world (spawners, chests, furnaces, dispensers) entities?
