Important: If you don't like this idea, please post why. Constructive criticism will always be welcome, and will help me to improve this idea. (And, yes, I know about the wishlist rule. But I don't think this is a wishlist, because it composes rare items that make exploring more fun)
Basically minecraft doesn't have reasons to explore and find rare stuff. Currently the only non-craftable rare items are the saddle, chainmail armor, and melon/pumpkin seeds. (also maybe slimeballs)
I have new ideas for items which will help on the "exploring" feel of minecraft and make it much more fun.
- Wyvern scales: They would be found VERY commonly on dungeons (0-6 on each dungeon), and on nether fortresses if they had chests. Used to make wyvern armor, that gives the player a higher jump.
- Phoenix egg: EXTREMELY rare on nether fortresses' chests, used as an infinite furnace fuel and can be sold as an extremely valuable item to villagers (about 35 emeralds or something). It's just like the enderdragon egg, but red.
- Golden saplings: 10% chance of appearing on jungle temples and 4% on dungeons, would be used for planting golden oaks, which are just like oaks, but with golden leaves, and drop golden apples instead of normal apples. They grow very slowly and can't be grown with bone meal.
- Fruit of life: Commonly found at strongholds, but rarely at jungle temples. Gives you one extra max heart of health temporarily (just for 1 minecraft day)
- Fruit of chaos: Found at nether fortesses, as they should have chests. Gives the player a random potion effect on consumption.
- Salmon: Found rarely by fishing at tundras or in shipwrecks, if they ever get to exist. Cooked salmon gives the player the "haste" potion effect for 15 seconds and 3 hunger points.
- Farmer's staff: Sold by farmer villagers by 4-6 emeralds. Right-click an animal so it will follow you. Better than wheat that makes undesired animals also follow you.
- Blue charge: Found rarely at dungeons. A fire charge that creates blue fire, that burns underwater.
- Lightning pearl: Found rarely on nether fortresses and strongholds. Throw it and a lightning hits the place where the pearl landed.
- Parachute: Found at village's chests. Equip it on your chestplate slot. It opens automatically on falls which would kill you, leaving you with half a heart.
- Backpack: Found at desert temples and abandoned mineshafts. Expands your inventory by 10 slots. Equip it on your chestplate slot.
- Ice skates: Sold by villagers. Equip it on your boot slot. 200% speed on ice.
- Glider: Found on pyramids. 450 durability, loses 1 durability per flown meter.
- Bottle o' Enchanting: 'Nuff said. Found pretty much on every generated structure, as a reward for explorating (just like mining gives you xp on new snapshot)
This is pretty interesting here is a question: what kind of golden apple drops from the golden oaks? The new golden apple or the weaker ones?(btw love the idea)

It better be the weaker ones.
I like everything except wyvern scales. Other rare equipment items would need to be introduced before I would want to see them.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?
This is pretty interesting here is a question: what kind of golden apple drops from the golden oaks? The new golden apple or the weaker ones?(btw love the idea)
How about, since it is unlimited furnace fuel, it takes a bit longer for each item to cook/smelt? Just as a way to kind of balance it?
Other than that, this is a solid idea.
I thought someone would say phoenix egg is too OP...
When you get to the nether, you usually have two or three stacks of coal laying around, which is almost unlimited.
Also, the egg is extremely rare...
Just like mooshrooms: they are unbeliavably rare but they give unlimited food.
- Wyvern scales: They would be found VERY commonly on dungeons (0-6 on each dungeon), and on nether fortresses if they had chests. Used to make wyvern armor, that gives the player a higher jump.
Sounds interesting. I support.

I don't know about "infinite" fuel maybe just a VERY LONG LASTING fuel source.

I actually like this, but maybe even make it a rarer find.
- Fruit of life: Commonly found at strongholds, but rarely at jungle temples. Gives you one extra max heart of health temporarily (just for 1 minecraft day)
For just 1 minecraft day? Doesn't seem worth it.
- Fruit of chaos: Found at nether fortesses, as they should have chests. Gives the player a random potion effect on consumption.
I don't like the idea of random. Sounds scary.
- Salmon: Found rarely by fishing at tundras or in shipwrecks, if they ever get to exist. Cooked salmon gives the player the "haste" potion effect for 15 seconds and 3 hunger points.
Maybe, I'm not crazy about this idea but I don't hate it either.
- Farmer's staff: Sold by farmer villagers by 4-6 emeralds. Right-click an animal so it will follow you. Better than wheat that makes undesired animals also follow you.
I like this suggestion. It should also break after a while.
- Blue charge: Found rarely at dungeons. A fire charge that creates blue fire, that burns underwater.
What would be the use? I don't get this one.
- Lightning pearl: Found rarely on nether fortresses and strongholds. Throw it and a lightning hits the place where the pearl landed.
Interesting.
- Parachute: Found at village's chests. Equip it on your chestplate slot. It opens automatically on falls which would kill you, leaving you with half a heart.
Yes but I think it should just let you fall from any height and leave you without a scratch. I guess to implement downside you can say it only has a certain number of uses before it tears.
- Backpack: Found at desert temples and abandoned mineshafts. Expands your inventory by 10 slots. Equip it on your chestplate slot.
YESYESYES! MUCH SUPPORT!!
- Ice skates: Sold by villagers. Equip it on your boot slot. 200% speed on ice.
Interesting idea. Not sure of the big help it could have though unless you were in a tundra biome.
- Glider: Found on pyramids. 450 durability, loses 1 durability per flown meter.
I like this idea too!
- Bottle o' Enchanting: 'Nuff said. Found pretty much on every generated structure, as a reward for explorating (just like mining gives you xp on new snapshot)
So are you saying this would be just an XP boost? I'm not really sure what you mean...
I support everything but the Parachute, Lightning Pearl, Blue Charge, and Wyvern Scales
Lightning Pearl seems useless
Blue Charge seems pointless (What would you burn underwater?)
Parachute seems OP
Wyvern Scales seem pointless/OP (So it's like leather only it's 900% better?)

The weak one.
Do you mean other different armor?

Yea, I already seen this idea, it's very nice.
Which one of them?
Also, updated OP with new stuff.

Curse PremiumPhoenix Egg
Wyvern Feathers
Fruit of Chaos
Blue Charge
Lightening Pearl
Glider
These seem not suitable for Vanilla Minecraft in my opinion.
Sounds interesting. I support.

Curse PremiumOn topic, you should make Golden oaks rarer
