Just came up with a pretty cool idea. I'm not sure if other people have already posted a topic like this but just posting just in case. Came up with this idea because of hunger and now there should be thirst to make it more of a challenge. Because I already know you can drink water from potion bottles so that already done just need to make the thirst
Thirst situations:
Dry desert
-------------------------
Jumping into water decreases thirst but only a little. (Splashing water on you is the same thing)
Jungles give you %3 water when your exploring the jungle and you touch the leaves.
When creeper blows up you'll be thirsty. Because of all the TNT dust after the explosion!
First off I realize this is an over posted topic, but I have never weighed in on it so here goes.
My initial reaction to this is to absolutely hate it because it just seems like another annoying thing to have to deal with. But, I think with some tweaking there could me some merit buried in this post. Some of the suggestions you made could be changed a bit to help them make a little more sense and add to the thirst idea.
Here are my thoughts.
Thirst would NOT affect health in any way when it hits zero. I think that if anything were to happen it could slow down your walk speed by maybe 20 or 25 percent. I can support the idea of swimming in water slightly replenishing the thirst level, but I think the jungle idea should be changed. I think that instead of replenishing thirst, it should just keep you from losing thirst while in the rain forest type biome. It would then make sense that in normal plains or forest biomes you would lose it at a specific rate and then while in a desert you would loose water at an accelerated rate.I think the creeper idea should be cut. One issue I see with this is the initial hassle of having to make glass along with all the other things you need to do at the beginning of a game. People who spawn in desert biomes would be at a disadvantage. But the fact that you cannot die from thirst would help to not make these factors deadly to a new player, just a mere inconvenience.

While I'm greatly opposed to the idea of Thirst anyway, your idea in particular is horrible. You quench thirst by touching leaves and jumping in water? And you become thirsty from dust? I mean, sure, your eyes, mouth, nose, so on, MIGHT get caught by a significant portion of dust capable of drying them out, but that's only a minuscule amount compared to what you have in reserves.
Either way, unrealistic, unfun, unchallenging, unneeded.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
It's hard criticizing ideas when one is tired, so you'd better appreciate it when I criticize yours.
you know what... just to end this insanity of the same bad ideas being repeated... why not repurpose the thirst bar into an additive function instead of hunger bar 2.0.
For example... Filling the thirst bar helps offset your exhaustion rate (say 10%), while consuming your thirst at a steady rate. The basic drinks would be a bottle of water, or Sarsaparilla (because beer would be inappropriate), and gained through drinkable anything. Beneficial in both small and large doses, not a pain in the ass to monitor, but is a pain in the ass in the continually maintain.
No, just no. Next thing you know, we have a poop bar, we get sick by drinking swamp water, Steve has food poisoning because he smelts his ores on the same oven he cooks his food, a hygenie bar that makes us dirty and such, and Herobrines trying to find a hospital because he got pnemoiuna from swimming in cold water in a winter biome while injured.
Like others have said, this suggestion is redundant.
The problem with thirst is that all drinkable water sources in the game right now are infinite, the only way to get around this is to create to new drinkable items which is time consuming for the developers and aren't listed in this suggestion. And even if new drinks were added to the game it would be uncomfortable for the player to now bring along drinks with him everywhere he goes. (Not to mention taking up more inventory space.) It wouldn't make the game harder it would just make it more annoying.

And once again my answer is, no thanks.

Curse PremiumPrince_Deity is right. Thirst is actually a pretty unoriginal idea.
I said this. Two days later, my computer's motherboard melted down and I had to get a new one with Windows 8.
Irony in the first degree.

You're dead in me.

Retired StaffPlease use the search bar before posting an idea. If your idea has already been presented before, post in that topic instead of making a new one.
