Okay, maybe "superbiomes" isn't the right word. Some of the other names in this thread are bland and uninspired, too.
Basically, this idea states that towards the centre of every biome, a more unique, heavily characteristic biome generates. I haven't thought of ideas for every biome, but here are the ones I've currently got. Forest:
The superbiome for Forest is Dense Forest, which is just a thicker version of the regular Forest. Trees are closer together, and more "big" oak trees generate. The grass and foliage colours are also darker, if that's even possible with Minecraft's current colourmaps. Taiga:
Alpine biome, a hilly and mountainous version of the Taiga biome. It snows as it normally would, and the Spruce trees generate a few blocks taller. The land is also mountainous, but the mountains are less steep than those in Extreme Hills biomes. Ocean:
Arctic/Antarctic biome. Further out into Oceans, islands composed of Ice with a layer of Snow begin to generate. As you travel further from major continents, these become bigger and closer together until a single point where they form a large, icy mass. If the biome is Antarctic, these islands generate with Stone underneath and do not have Snow already on them. Both biomes have snowfall weather. Jungle:
Mega Jungle (bland and uninspired). This is a thicker, bigger version of the regular Jungle. Many more of the 2-block thick trees generate here, along with 3 and 4-block thick ones. They are further apart than in regular jungles and there are no forest floor trees, but the large trees grow with wide leaves to provide a canopy over most of the ground (credit to Jake Von). Extreme Hills:
Insane Hills. In many ways, this is simply a larger version of Extreme Hills, and this biome takes advantage of Minecraft's new 256-block height limit. The mountains are huge, stretching to about 230 blocks high. Unlike Extreme Hills mountains, they have sharp, pointy peaks. Close to the peak of each mountain, the biome becomes "Summit", with natural snow. Swamp:
Bog biome. Uglier and slushier. Most of the biome is just wetlands, but there are strips of "muddy" grass. This type of grass block has a green-brown top and sides, and slows you down (but not as much as soulsand) as well as sliding you around slightly. Occupying most of the space in this biome is pools of a unique liquid block, "Mud". This spreads as far as Lava, 4 blocks out, and slows you down in a similar manner, as well as drowning you. Water that is flowing at a greater height than Mud will engulf it and vice versa, and Water at an equal height to Mud will be held back. Mud that comes in contact with Lava will turn into a Dirt block. Desert:
Dune biome (credit to TheMineroftheDepth). This type of Desert biome has much more frequent hills, as well as less dead bushes and almost no oases. The weather in this biome is sandstorms, which have particles moving rapidly sideways and a gold-red fog that halves your render distance. I also think a biome palette could be added for Sand and Sandstone, and these blocks would show up as red shades in Desert/Dune biomes.
I think this would add more excitement to the terrain in Minecraft, especially to explorers. If you have any feedback, please reply.
So basically biomes but 4x what it is normally like. I always have been in support of new and better biomes. Aldo thir would go good with the new large biome option.
However you are suggesting multiple ideas for different biomes what is hard to give my opinion on every one.
I honestly don't think these are bad ideas, and once Inget WorldEdit Working and I learn how to use it, I could make a demonstration of Insane Hills, or Super Mountains.

I like this idea but even when biome size was increased in 1.8 they are still not large enough (excluding ocean) to have another biome within them that would be reasonably sized (xhills biomes not counted). Maybe as a world option or increase default biome size or maybe even as a feature to the large biome option.

Arrival of Darkness, Darker yet recognizable textures.
I think the word you are looking for is "sub-biomes", a group of multiple similar biomes would be a "superbiome".
Also, for the jungle sub-biome, what if it wasn't a thicker part of the jungle, but a clearing? It would have more big trees, so it would be shady, and their wouldn't be any foliage on the ground. Like a rainforest.

Well, they're not really "sub" biomes, as they're the centres of regular biomes and more differentiated, but thanks for your contribution. I don't like superbiomes either.
EDIT: I also like your idea for Mega Jungles having trees further apart. Will include it in the OP.
