There are good potions and there are bad potions. Right now the most you can do to someone else on a server unexpectedly is to set up a splash potion in a dispenser, which can be fun. Just like you can use gunpowder to turn any potion into a splash potion, you should be able to use some item in the brewing stand to turn any potion into a secret potion. It wouldn't change the effects of any potion, but it would take away the name and the color, so every secret potion looks the exact same. This would be great for puzzle maps and servers where you have a bunch of secret potions in a chest.
The best item I can think of using in the brewing stand is a snowball. Snowballs would give a reason to turn all potions white without changing the effects. Any other ideas are welcome.
I like this idea, as long as secret potions in effect have white particles. Also, they should use snow blocks, not snowballs.
Well once you drink the potion or once the potion gets thrown at you, you would be able to tell what the effects are, whether it displays it next to the inventory menu or not. And snow blocks could work

Yes, you should tell, but others shouldn't be able to tell anything more than that you have a potion effect.
If you have to make it into a secret potion, then people using it for completely beneficial purposes would have absolutely no use for it, therefore, it's only use would be to poison people, and if it's always poison, then who is going to drink it? Leap of faith maybe? I like the idea, however, It needs some work.

It's hard criticizing ideas when one is tired, so you'd better appreciate it when I criticize yours.

Not necessarily. For a map maker, you could put a bunch of disguised potions in a chest, and require the player to figure out which ones are good and which are bad.

I have already seen that argument, and I was ignoring it for a reason. Why? Because I was talking about Multiplayer, not Adventure Maps.

Why does everyone think I don't have an avatar? Is there anyone who can see the one black pixel.

Yeah, I wish this forum got mojang a attention
My second reaction was "Why is this not in the game yet?"
Convenient for griefers, but still pretty cool.
What functionality would it have in singleplayer, though?
Adventure maps would be great in single player. You could also shuffle up a bunch of secret potions and randomly drink 3 of them

I just don't remember what thread it was.

I did search first, and I didn't find any other topics on this. And nothing here says anything about making a random potion, so it's not the same.
That's actually a really good idea, hiding the effect from other players. Didn't think of that.
