I think that when sprinting, the player should automatically jump up one-block ledges, but use slightly more hunger. This would make bumping into blocks less annoying. Also, you should be able to jump 1.5 blocks, effectively allowing you to leap over fences! That way, you would be able to get over fences easily. I know that some hold down the jump key while sprinting, but you can still bump into blocks. As I said, this is a very minor suggestion but would be pretty nice!
Sounds good to me. As-is, sprinting is largely worthless because of the constant terrain shifts getting in the way.

It is an interesting but depressing reality that most politicians are just regular people with power. And most people would be as bad as politicians if only they could get some power.
To be honest, I have no issue sprinting up a mountainside, I just hit [space] before I hit each block.
Also, the idea that running uphill is just as fast as going downhill makes fairly little sense, unless there is an extra stamina cost for each block you sprint up.

The Internet is a big place, friend. I've been places you've n͍̺e̩v̦e̦̰͍͓̩ͅr̜̭̝̬̬͉̤̬ ͙ịm̖͇a͍͇̤͙̥g̤̘i͔͖̤̼̪̬n͖͔̳̬̯e̩̘ḓ͈͔̠̙͇̼̯.͎
Jumping over fences defeats the purpose of having fences.
Maybe that would be the case if animals jumped over them...Actually, animals do. Fences need fixing.

Minecraft has no stamina system. Floating dirt makes little sense too.
And that only works when you have space to jump before the next block.

No thanks. Auto-jumping would annoy me.
Plus it wouldn't work very well at all. To successfully jump up a block while sprinting you need to hit the jump button before you actually get to the block so that you keep your momentum going. If this was added in, to be useful the auto-jump would need to happen at the same time which and how would minecraft judge when that is? Or if you are planning to turn a corner or something?
What if people were sprinting up to a barrier, planning to stop, but misjudge it and stop too late. Instead of harmlessly bumping into a wall and stopping, they leap over the barrier and into the lava on the other side.
What I'm saying is this feature would cause more grief than be helpful. It would be like having a robot that feeds you so you don't have to use your hands. Sounds helpful, but is actually the worst thing you could possibly have since it cannot judge when you are hungry or even if your mouth is open.

Retired StaffHunger.
...Is not stamina. Besides, sprinting depletes hunger faster already.

Retired StaffDoing stuff makes it go down, how is it not a stamina system?
