You know how Silk Touch drops what ever block it breaks, such as a Diamond Ore drops a Diamond Ore? Well, when ever I go mining, I never have Silk Touch on my pick and always get a mix of Iron/Gold Ingots and Iron/Gold Ore. How about, since this is overflowing our inventry, couldn't you make a pickaxe-only enchantment where you get the item the block leads to, like Iron Ore turns into Iron Ingot when broken? For those people who always end up finding a dungeon or a mineshaft and get one ingot and the rest ores, they're either forced to waist the inventory space, not take the ingots, or waste time and resources smelting the items, just to end up getting more! With this enchant, this could possibly remove the problem of wasting space.

This enchant sounds horrible to be honest. This would cause coal's only use to be making torches, and we only need 16 coal for a stack of torches. You would have to be very, very lazy to think that smelting ores takes a long time. Heres an idea: Make more furnaces! Amazing! Now was that so hard?
Since this whole suggestion is based on the fact that your inventory gets full, why dont you just throw away cobble, dirt, gravel and anything like that.
If you still have problems with your inventory filling up just go back, put your stuff away and continue mining.
Now if for some reason your inventory is full, you've thrown away all your trash and you have no way back quickly: How big is your mine? I mean holy ****, My hotbar is normally more than full of supplies i bring with me mining and i still dont get a full inventory.
Well I hope my tips for saving inventory space help.

A roughly-made pickaxe for a roughly-made suggestion.
