Right now, many of us can agree that the latest snapshot's have introduced an awesome but over easy enchanting system. First enchanting was so hard, now it's too easy. Time to balance these out.
First, we need to return level 50 being the max enchanting level. Lowering it to 30 was nice, but combining the new ore xp made it too easy.
Second, we need to rearrange what ores can drop xp. Right now gold and iron are the only ores that do not drop xp. Iron, coal, gold, and redstone should be the only ores that do NOT drop xp, since to the fact they're the 3 most common ores in the game.
Third, a few more ways to get xp. Killing a certain amount of hostile mobs should grant you bonus xp. Walking 1km will give you 1 xp. Taming an animal will give you 2 xp. Mining 1000 blocks will give you 3 xp. Crafting expensive items, such as gold, diamond, and lapis( not including dyes ) items will grant you 3 xp.
Fourth, fixing the furnace giving you xp. Oh look! I have a bunch of wood! I'll cook a 64 stack a remove each one individually so I can get 192 xp! No... jus... just no. The furnace giving you xp could be changed a little. First, only CERTAIN objects you smelt should give you xp and if you cook a 64 stack of ANYTHING it should only get you one orb.
comment on how you like my idea, or how it could be improved.

About this part, no. Taking each one out individually and taking them all out at once will get you the same amount of XP, if I'm not mistaken.
About the third point, I think you should gain XP from achievements, not what you stated.
The other two, what Kholdstare said.

*mines gold*
*gets EXP and gold ore*
*places gold*
*mines gold*
*gets EXP and gold ore*
Ad infinitum.
I like how smelting and mining nets you EXP. I think it should remain the same, except for the level cap which should be raised up to 50 as you said.

Hmm... good point, I guess I know why gold doesn't give XP right now.
I'll update the topic.
