Over view:
The Saplis Mob will wonder around the forest, and is not a friend to villagers. This Mob is good being tamed, as it makes a good travel chest. The Mob can be tamed and healed with bonemeal. When it steps in water the Saplis health regenerates fast, and the texture colors will flourish. This mob is obviously very weak to fire and axes, arrows also have less damage to these creatures. A normal sword will not do as much damage as an axe of the same level.
Health and Attack damage:
The mob will have 40 health points (2x Steve), slightly harder to kill than a skeleton but with its many weaknesses and slowness it should not be impossible for the newest of players.
Item Drops and Experience:
The saplis mob will drop 1-3 of: apples, wood, sticks, and a rare chance to drop a chest.
The experience dropped will range from 5-8, the highest chance of it being at 5.
Environment:
The saplis is found in the Taiga Forerst Biome. Commonly found wondering the forest. This mob can be effected by water/lava/fire. If mob steps in water it will get faster health regeneration, and its texture will floursih. Is tamed and healed with bonemeal, a good 3-5 times applied.
Utilities:
This mob can be tamed, then used as an ally, or for the use of a single chest. It will attack mobs that you are attacking, all combat is similar to that of a wolf.
Attributes to texture:
The mob will give off a green haze, similar to how the enderman give off a purple haze.
Im currently working on a texture and design shape for this mob, so check back sometime this week.
Please give feedback, its a small idea now, but you can help it grow. I'll add most of your ideas if wanted by you.***
Feeback:
*No Planting saps due to grief
*Plants/spreads aesthectic foilage
*Restricted to Taiga Biome (Makes sure the one and only texture works)
*Mob will be tamable/nuetral.
*Once tamed it acts as a single chest, right click once to seat it, once again to open chest (then exit chest), and a 3rd time to unseat mob.
*No longer attacks you if trees are deforested.
As long as I can tame it and name it Tree Beard I support.
XD Thats sorta where the idea came from. But "nuetral" mobs are not tamable. If you can give me a few things that this mob can contribute once being tamed such as healing, drops you an apple, or makes a fine walking chest. Then I will change it to tamable

Wolves are neutral mobs.
OT: No, it just seems like a grief mob, going around, planting saplings on a landscape that isn't supposed to have saplings
I think a treant mob would be cool, but planting saplings would be slightly annoying, or overpowered depending on how you look at it.
I think instead of pretending to be a tree, it should hide inside leaf blocks, so it's forced to be around trees of it's type(assuming it can be a tree other than oak). Instead of placing saplings it should place aesthetic foliage(vines, shrubs etc).
To top it off, swamp treants should always be hostile, or have a higher range of detecting deforestation(because there isn't much tree density in swamps).

I am ninja'd far too often.

I have added most of your ideas complaints, and fixed it up a little.
I will be working on a texture/design for this mob.
This is something that could greatly help singleplayer and multiplayer, if not added, then I will work on a small bit mod to add this in.
