In the Nether, there's only 4 solid blocks to build with; netherrack, soul sand, nether brick, and glowstone. People who build homes in the Nether tend to use overworld material, such as cobblestone, stone bricks, dirt, ect. These examples don't really suite the Nether, unless you find a great way to match it in. But this is hard to do. When building are made of nether bricks, they are usually either cheated, or tore down a nether fortress, nearly risking their lives. Why not add a way to make nether bricks, to build nether buildings? Here's my ideas.
First of all, nether bricks should be similar to stone bricks, kinda like stone and netherrack. Stone makes up most of the overworld, and netherrack makes up the Nether. You should be able to smelt netherrack, to make smooth netherrack. It looks like netherrack, but it removes all of the dark creases, just like cobble, into stone.
Then, you craft four smooth netherrack, and a nether wart in the middle of all of them, to make 4 nether bricks. The reason why nether wart is required is because since people are used to obtaining nether bricks from fortresses, nether wart is exclusive to fortresses, so you still have to find a nether fortress to make bricks.
Why not just 2x2 of netherrack? Why add the wart and the smooth netherrack?
1) Adding the wart would make no sense.
2) Smelting cobble to stone then using that makes sense because stone is the natural block. For netherrack, it spawns that way.

Why not make stone bricks 2x2 cobble? The reason why it is smooth netherrack is so that it feels more like making stone bricks in the overworld. Also, the wart is there to make it so that you still need to go to a fortress to make nether bricks, to make it still a challenge to get them.

1) Because the bricks themselves are smooth, whereas cobblestone is just loose rocks piled together.
2) Then they may as well just mine the netherbricks. It's not like they are used for much of anything so can be seen as powerful. There is no reason they shouldn't be easy to make.
3) Umm... you want to smelt something that burns forever?

Don't forget, this is Minecraft, not real life. Not everything has to be exactly perfect, but your statements do have a point. Thanks for the feedback.
