Potions are really great to use when you're in a jam.
Need to run fast from greifers? Potion of Swiftness fixes that.
Need to kill explore the nether? Potion of Fire Resistance REALLY helps.
Need to regenerate your health quickly? Potion of Regeneration fixes that.
You get the point. But what if you want to make drinking potions risky? "Why would I do that?" one might ask. Well, what if a greifer steals all of your potions? He wouldn't dare use them if he had no idea what they were.
So, now by adding lapis lazuli to any potion, it will transform the potion to a deep blue. The item will be labelled 'Potion of ???'. And only you will know what it is, that is until you lose track of it. This could be great for adventure maps, posing danger when one uses one of these pre-made potions.
Thats not enough you say? Well, this is why I have another idea, random potions. just add (Undecided Item) to a water bottle, and it too will turn a dark blue and be labelled 'Potion of ???'. What's different is that this one has a random effect. with so many potion types, who knows what could happen!
I had an idea a while ago that I never posted that you could add an ender pearl to cauldrons (before brewing stands) to make potion effects unidentifiable.
Of course, back then you had potions that would either make you a god, outright kill you, screw you over spectacularly, or a combination of the three.
I liked your idea of mystery potions, hiding the effect label of the potion. But the other one, the random one... seems like one of those things that would newer be used :/
Again, it would be a last resort thing for adventure maps.
Maybe, potion recipes could be random, depending on the world! The effects of ghast tears, etc, would be randomize, and potions would never have listed effects.
That would be fun, and make writing things in books worthwhile.

Allocators are no longer the future, we have Hoppers now. I still like them, though.

Random potions I did not think of, however.
Lapis was the only thing on my mind at the moment, with it's relatively few uses. What do you suggest?
