So they have inproved the AI to make hostile mobs smarter. They no longer wander off clifs to get to you, and find safe paths. Tho it seems they haven't found time or thought about improving AI for dogs. They try to stand right on you pushing you around, they hop in lava, and they walk right of the edge of cliffs.
So I was thinking. Why not make the dogs smarter as well? Make it so they dont walk of edges and aviod lava. (maybe staying at least on block away) same thing with running into players. They should stop one block from the player instead of trying to stand on the same block. Maybe even add in that they avoid combat if they are on the last hit of life.
So the list of changes are as follows.
1. Dogs AI improved so they aviod walking of cliffs and into lava. This means path finding.
2. Dogs stop one block from a player instead of trying to stand on the same block. Stops them from pushing a player or blocking them.
3. When a dog isnt sitting it will try to stay close with in 6 blocks of the player when it can.
4. Dogs can sprint or run as fast as the player so they arent left behind as much. This will cut down on the need for dog teleports.
5. When a dog is on the last hit of life it will aviod combat. That adds survival insinct.
6. Dogs will bark and growl when hostile mobs are close. Maybe with in 10 or 15 blocks.

Excellent. But I don't think dogs walk off cliffs. I especially like the part about dogs growling/barking when mobs are nearby, so you can kinda have a watch dog.

I noticed they tend to fall off cliffs or wander off if its the fastest way to you or if they are just close.
Also maybe just maybe could you give the wolfs a bone to hold?
