In Minecraft i would sometimes have this problem: i created too many stairs or fences or whatever, and i just lost a lot of wood. Well who cares? Its wood. But what if it was something more expensive, like diamond? I'm just suggesting a reverter. Whatever you put inside of it, the items used to create it would pop out. A practical example would be to shave a sheep that has pink wool, use the reverter, get wool and pink dye. From there you could either color your own sheep and stop looking for flowers in the desert, or you can revert the pink dye into red and yellow dye to revert those into flowers to decorate your home. From one pink sheep. I would imagine it would be at a cost though, like every time you use it, the items that should come out (4 stairs = 6 planks) get halved (4 stairs = 3 planks ). You could also gain items that otherwise couldn't be gained, like turning mossy cobblestone into cobblestone and moss. Or maybe getting the pure form of alchemy ingredients, making them have even more special effects. Maybe you use it on the ender-dragon egg to turn it into the dragon that laid it O.o but in all reality it would be one cool item to have in the game.
When you cut a piece of wood in real life into two pieces ten times, and then you only needed to do it eight times, do you go complain and expect scientists to magically find a way to turn your extra pieces of wood back to their original form, fully functional and identical to the former pieces of wood? That's what I thought.
Here's a novel idea: Plan your crafting better and don't waste materials. All this does is dumb things down for people who don't bother to think before doing things.
If you want a method to cover for your mistakes, backup the save file before crafting. But a reverter? This isn't Prince of Persia. You don't get to rewind what you've done.

Good for you. That doesn't change that this would be nothing but a crutch for the many who don't bother thinking. If you want a creation, craft it. If you want the raw items, don't craft it. End of problem.
Creating new items (moss, "pure" ingredients, a...A dragon? Really? That's ****ing dumb) to try to justify use of such a feature is simply unnecessary. If it has no use with current items, it is unneeded.

I have two words for you, grammar and spelling. Other than that, the idea still remains at stupid as ever, regardless of the 'examples' you show. A stupid idea is a stupid idea regardless of who comes up with it or how it is presented.

It's hard criticizing ideas when one is tired, so you'd better appreciate it when I criticize yours.
