with Jebs adoption of Emeralds as the coin of trade official what do you all think of some means of sharing Emeralds between worlds? A few rules for such a Banking system...
1 Emeralds created in creative mode may not be deposited
2 Only verified accounts may deposit or withdraw Emeralds from a Bank
3 Withdrawals will require some verification (similar to that done on a 'standard' (non cracked) server) to insure the person withdrawing the Emeralds is indeed logged in to minecraft.net, and is thus the correct user.
4. Loans will not be possible.
Let me provide an example to answer that:
imagine a player has played very very hard on their own survival world and collected the rewards of that work, is it 'fair' that all that work becomes meaningless the moment he or she connects to another players world?
should not players who have played hard be able to benefit from that?
and actually, despite what the junk mail says, loans are not the whole point of banking. One of the first banking systems allowed travelers not to have to carry huge amounts of gold around, instead they carried a simple certificate of deposit , later this evolved into promissory notes and checks

Well, no. If you allowed this then suddenly people would be making giant blocks of diamond in MCedit and Stacks in INVedit just so they could go visit a server where they wouldn't have that control. Everyone would use diamond all the time for everything and it would become as worthless as dirt.
I see, so because it could be abused we assume that it will be, nm then.
Oh, something like this would definitely be abused, not just COULD be. But that's not why I'm unmoved by it.
Yes, someone who has put a lot of effort into working in a solo world is certainly entitled to keep the fruits of that labour. And they CAN, just in the world where they got it. Minecraft worlds are separate and distinct realities; the fact that I've built a massive temple of completely legit diamond and gold blocks in one world doesn't mean I get to be equipped with diamond tools and armour as soon as I spawn in a new one. Is that unfair? I'm baffled that you could even think fairness enters into it. I don't have to delete my old world. I can go back there any time I want and swim through my Uncle Scrooge vault of emeralds. I just don't get to take it with me to a new reality.
And if it WERE possible to bring your wealth to a new multiplayer world, even if you DID earn it all completely fairly in your hardcore world, do you think other players would be impressed at all, when anyone at all could do the same thing by playing just a little less fairly in their solo worlds? There's already bickering here about whether or not mob grinders are cheating. What if my fully-automated sheep farm churns out so much wool for me to sell to villagers that I can bank a thousand emeralds an hour? Are people going to feel happy about me showing up in their multiplayer servers and buying ridiculous quantities of diamond tools, even if my farm was completely vanilla with no cheats?
No. Get rich all you want, but do it in the world you're in.

Resources should not move between worlds, and loans are kind of the whole POINT of banking.
It seems to me that banking in SMP servers is something that can be left to the ingenuity of players.
