(Sorry, I don't have screenshots to show you what each would look like. Just paint a picture in your head.)
Some contraptions we want to remain "secret", like "secret" doors, and trip mines to troll people. In case you are wondering why they are in quotes, it's because aren't so "secret", since the triggers (pressure plates, levers, buttons) are pretty visible. So why not hide the triggers in plane sight! Here are my ideas.
Torch Levers:
These would look exactly like a torch, but would function differently. They would still give off light and have a torch flame at the tip to avoid give away, but if you right click on it, the Torch Lever (Just imagine the wooden shovel as a lever because I couldn't find a lever emoticon.) would slight be turned down word, then go back into it's regular position, and then what ever redstone junk it's hooked up to would be activated, (or deactivated if it's already on.) But there would be one function difference. It's hard to explain so I will do my best to explain it. Imagine an iron door on a wall, with two levers on both side of the door. (One lever will be Lever A, the other will be Lever To open the iron door, you activate lever A, then you walk in. To close the door you activated Lever B, but the door doesn't close because both levers are in a on state. So to close the door, you walk out, deactivate Lever A, walk back in, deactivate Lever B, and the door closes. With torch levers you would have that problem. Now imagine the same situation, but with torch levers as torch lever A and torch lever B instead. You activate torch lever A, and the iron door opens. You walk in, activate torch lever B, and the iron door closes. No more having walk back out to close iron doors. (Or in other words instead of activate; activate; deactivate; deactivate; deactivate to get through iron doors with levers, it would be activate; activate to get through with torch levers.) So they would function kinda differently than levers.
Hidden Buttons:
| = Almost any block, except glass, sand, dirt, ores, gravel, bedrock, netherack, soul sand, and | maybe obsidian and bookshelves. | = Button
This would behave almost exactly like regular buttons, with a very minor difference in visual behavior. Instead of half of it disappearing like regular buttons, a quarter of it would disappear, and the machine it's hooked up to would activate for one second. I don't know what you guys would use it for, but there are plenty of people aren't there more creative than I am in Minecraft, so it would be interesting to see what kind of tricks people would use this for.
Hidden Pressure Plate:
| = Same as the Hidden Buttons one. | = Pressure Plate |
Visually this would be the same as hidden buttons, but hidden pressure plates would go in vertically, instead of horizontally. And work the same as pressure plates. These could be used more of a defense mechanism in multiplayer to act as a trap for invasions, raids, trespassers, etc. Can make sure your attackers would not dodge your traps. Can also be used to make iron door activation via pressure plate more pleasing to the eye, if you think so. But there would be one very unfortunate problem this would add to in multiplayer. Trolls would have more power. So I can see this one receiving some hate and getting banned from servers do to trolls using this to their advantage.
So those are my ideas. Please post what you think, or if any modification should be made.
EDIT: Guys, it's not "Vertical pressure plates". I said they would go down vertically instead of horizontally like the buttons. And Ulki99, your idea of retextured levers would not work. People would see the base, realize there is no flame, and see the no light comes from it, and easily tell it's a lever.
For the torch levers, i don't think that we need a torch that works as a lever (you could just retexture the lever to a torch ^^)
1. Then other people would see it as a lever, so it wouldn't be hidden, now would it?
2. Then all levers would look like torches.
3. Torches and Levers have too different models to look enough alike regardless of texture.

It's hard criticizing ideas when one is tired, so you'd better appreciate it when I criticize yours.
