The idea is maybe have a special connection, or cord-connection, that allows Xbox players be able to play with someone who is on the Computer... What will happen is the connection between a Computer, and the Xbox, will be set so the 360 Players can join the Computer Player's game. Next, the Computer Player will load the game on his/her computer (And whatever mods that player has) then start a map. The info of this map will be sent to the Xbox then those players will be loaded into the map and be able to use whatever is on the Computer, and they play together. (This will be up to 5 players if isn't Online).
Before I get yelled at it, this idea doesn't violate anything because the Mods, and everything else, is STAYING on the Computer. The 360 Players will only get a small portion of the map on the 360. This portion is the part that will change the map into a 360 Map once the computer is disconnected. This means, all data about the REAL map is sticking to the Computer.. Kinda like playing on a server.. The info about the server is saved on the OP's computer, not your own and the OP controls what addons/mods is being used on the server. The mods are also sticking to the Computer and the 360 will NEVER get any of this or the updates that the Computer may have which the 360 does not. Basicly, 360 players can play with a Computer play on a map that is on the Computer but will NEVER get any of this stuff for their own 360 once the computer is disconnected.
Also, any mods that effects controls, looks, etc will NOT effect the Xbox players. They will still have original controls, looks, and players of the game. Only the Computer Player will be whatever they are and be able to see the different looks he has for the original blocks. Blocks added by mods is still see-able, and use-able, by the Xbox Players unless they change a control then they are NOT use-able at all.
Anyways, what you think? It doesn't violate anything, from what I've read so don't yell at me about that... And I ain't de' best at explaining stuff so I hope you can understand what I am trying to say/explain.
But like I've said, they Xbox users will be playing the Computer's Game. Once the computer is disconnected, they will get kicked since they can't play anymore without a connection to the map/game. The Xbox users wont actually be using their own MC game to play however, the computer should register that the Xbox does has MC on it so to know that they are allow to be playing MC, or something like that.
It should be possible.. Just more of a will they do it?

I'm pretty sure that it would require both versions to be the same version.
Then again, I can't say much. I don't own an Xbox.

What about mods on Servers? Some people actually have mods on their Servers that I may not have the same version of, or not have at all, and yet I still am using that mod when I play on that Server cause it is saved on the OP's computer...

That's called a "plugin".
Some mods for servers DO require the client to have the same mod, namely ones that change the game drastically (like doubling the height before Anvil). Both the client and the server need to have the mod installed. Obviously, a beta version of the game will be drastically different from the current version of the game.

360 edition is supposed to eventually catch up to current PC version "and beyond" - so says 4J. No reason to make excuses for why it "can't" work based on the version. It's just as easy to make silly counter arguments like - I'd be willing to put up a 1.7.3 (the next update that will be here soon) server if Mojang/Microsoft made it available for download on my PC in order to host Xbox players.
Microsoft also announced cross-platform functionality during E3. This, of course, doesn't necessarily mean cross-platform play..... :\

That's true. But at this day and time, it's pretty hard, if not impossible, to implement.

You have a source of that statement from a credible person? Other proof? Significant industry experience? The source code to either game completely documented, commented and fully understood? An employment agreement with NDA from 4J, Microsoft and Mojang?
If the answer to any of the above is 'no', then there was no reason to post that. :\

No, but that doesn't mean it's possible to produce a magic cable from the depths of time in space that allows you to downgrade/upgrade to a different Minecraft version, especially when the version hosting the "server" has infinite worlds whereas the other doesn't.

I'm not trying to argue here.... but I can make counter points if you'd like.
One of the challenges 4J has mentioned they have faced during the development is that each game on the 360 Edition is a server + client. With the server portion of the game offloaded to a PC server, then who is to say they won't have more resources to allow the same method of dynamic chunk loading that the PC has? Similarly, if Mojang/4J/Microsoft/whoever wanted to release a completely separate server then why couldn't they? 4J has mentioned they were inquiring about dedicated servers for Minecraft 360 - what version do you think this would be?
There are no answers to the questions above. I'm not stating them as facts. The point is that you can't simply dismiss something reaching for straws. Likewise, I can't simply introduce things grasping those same straws. Neither of us can say it is definitively possible or impossible.
Please don't dismiss things as "impossible to implement" if none of us have any sort of royal [email protected]#$ clue on what is or isn't possible for Mojang/4J/Microsoft.

I only said impossible/very hard to implement CURRENTLY. If the PC and Xbox versions get updates to make compatible servers (possibly without a cord) then it's obviously possible. But with the two current versions, I doubt you could do it easily.

It's certainly possible.
