Hi guys, my suggestions is to have some sort of potion, (maybe using a single gold nugget, or gold ignot), which spawns a cloned version of yourself.
Now, he may do stuff like, walk around, interact with items, and maybe just have a bit of fun. Or, for a bit of intellegence, he may be able to help you, such as; if you gave him a pickaxe, and started mineing a block, he might come and aid you. Or, you if you set out the frame for a house, he may help build the walls up?
On the flip, if you continuously attack him and/or leave him trapped, etc; he may become angry. He then might possibly attack you, look through your chests, etc. (But he should only become agressive on harder difficulties. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to get rid of them)
The final part of this, is that he may also get attacked by mobs, leaving him as a possible distraction, while you escape. (Hey, this might even make him angry?)
I don't believe this would fit in well with the other potions. They've all followed the general theme of effecting the player, not creating things from basically nothing.
No support from me.

Kingdoms rise and fall. Just don't burn the paintings in the Louvre, that's all.
Interesting concept, but I agree that it doesn't fit very well.
Perhaps a player golem? This would make more sense, fitting alongside the snow and iron golems.
Hmm, intersting idea.
How about using the armour (such as steel leggings, steel chestplate, etc), with a pumkin (or something) on top. Haha. The only downside here is that it would be quite expensive to make more than one (unless, that is, if you think that making too many should be a hard thing)
Edit: I mean, there's really heaps of ways this 'mob' could be spawned. Through eggs, the method mentioned above, potion, or maybe having a chance of spawning one if you died (if you're holding onto some kind of item. But I guess people don't want a reason to actually want to be killed).
The point here is, whether the clone itself would fit into the game?
I don't think there should be player clones, it doesn't really fit in. Nor does using a potion to get them or using gold for said potion.
I'm not against the idea of some sort of helper golem though. It needs to be made of blocks though, not items.
Maybe, in reference to using your idea for gold in the potion, it can be made from a single gold block with a pumpkin on top and this makes a little, gold, dwarf golem that mines ores or something.

Thanks guys, I hope this is idea is ok

So nope.
