I would like to suggest a deer. They would be passive unless provoked, and even then do little amounts (1-2 hearts) of damage. Once you killed them they would drop 0-1 antlers, which can be used in crafting for more durable bows, and possibly make new, more lethal arrows, and would also drop 1-2 deer meat, which can be cooked and, when eaten, restore 3 hunger bars and when you got within 10 blocks of them without crawling, they would be scared away like ocelots. They would be found in forest biomes in the overworld with the same spawn rate as sheep. They would have the (possibly) same model as the one from the Mo' Creatures mod. I hope you take my idea into consideration. I would love to have this kind of thing in Minecraft.
This idea has been suggested many times in much greater detail. Please search before posting.

I agree. I'll update the OP to include the possibility of the use of the Mo' Creatures mod deer model.
Why does everyone think I don't have an avatar? Is there anyone who can see the one black pixel.
