Much like the repeater block, the inverter block would serve the same purpose as a classic inverter, except it would be more handy in compact redstone mechanisms. It would take up only one block, which is where the idea comes into play.
Don't you know what an inverter does? It turns the redstone off in the middle of a signal. If you put another one after some redstone that is turned off, it will turn back on. It can be used for more than that, but there's too much to explain.

Good job.
But there's not much need for it. Inverters don't take much room as it is. Doesn't seem like it would save much space either way. Could be useful though, I guess.
Unless your trying to make something compact and tight spaced, yeah it would be necessary. There is a repeater block, so why shouldn't there be an inverter block? (I'm not asking for logic gate blocks.) If you don't have anything good to say about anyone's ideas then gtfo. I want to hear from someone who likes the idea. The game's still in development you know.

He's offering valid criticism. The current inverter setup is quite small.
However, it does have problems with shooting a signal all over the place. A single-block inverter would help solve this problem. I wouldn't mind having one in-game.
There are a plethora of other redstone circuits or devices that take up 6 cubic meters or more that could merit being condensed into a simple craft-able element. Piston memory ribons, vertical redstone transmission, T Flip-Flop circuits, time of day devices, and many more things take up a great deal of space to create and would merit a designated device that compacts them down/simplifies their construction to be easy to use and rids them of bugs.
I find the idea of taking something that currently takes 2 cubic meters and compacting to a 1 cubic meter space a very nearsighted priority. It saves very little space and isn't really going to revolutionize the current size of circuits or make them easier for casual players to use or design them.
You mean like a lever that can be toggled by redstone?

Anyways, MasterSergeant, you're kinda flipping out. He's loud to voice his opinion. And an inverter block would only save one block of space, plus get rid of the torch that could be used for another purpose as well as the block being used that switches between powered and unpowered, so it would partially nerf inverters anyways.
This has been suggested many times before. Please search before posting.
