snow. rain. thunder. thats all of the weather conditions there are in minecraft. they dont really do much.
there should be more weather to add atmosphere along with challenge to minecraft. they could be very mood setting, and also part of surviving.
sandstorms- only occuring in deserts, sandstorms should limit visibility to the render distance " tiny"
hail- only occuring in snowy biomes, these would slowly do damage to you as long as nothing was above you to protect you.
fog- occuring only over rivers, oceans, beaches, swamps, and jungles, it would have the same affect as a sandstorm, but it would be darker, quieter and overall creepier. animals would not call out, and ambience can be heard. weather can be moody, right?
blizzards- like hail, except you would take damage unless near a torch, fire, jack-o-lantern, a lit furnace, etc.
I like the fog and sandstorm, but I'm not sure I like the idea of painful weather.
Perhaps a blizzard could limit render distance and occur at the same time as a normal lightning storm, have fog occur when rain would, and sandstorms occur only when a storm would.
Sandstorms - Adding sandstorms to deserts sounds like a fantastic idea but I believe they should be rare and fairly short, possibly more likely to occur when you're near a desert temple or village?
Hail - I like this idea but I'd like to tweak it a bit. Hail really doesn't hurt that much in general so maybe it only does slow, small damage when sprinting?
Fog - I absolutely love this idea but only for oceans, rivers, beaches, and swamps. Not jungles, it wouldn't fit right. The idea of fog on those areas is genius. Imagine you're out in the ocean exploring great distances and an island is hidden by fog and reveals itself slowly. It would be so much more interesting! I think it should effect your visibility to tiny like the sandstorm would. I like the idea that it would be quiet and with ambiance.
Blizzard - Also a very good idea but it should be a more rare weather occurring only sometimes. I like the idea that if you stand near a heat source you don't take damage.
These ideas are all unique, I generally don't like weather suggestions because people tend to over power them(like adding in tornado's).

Kingdoms rise and fall. Just don't burn the paintings in the Louvre, that's all.
