Now, the idea is basically what it says on the tin.

This would be implemented with the addition of a new utility block, the grinder (better name?).

The grinder would basically be used to grind items into smaller items made of the same material, for example, sandstone to sand, wool into string, wheat into seeds.

EDIT: The block would either look like a piston with the arm going the other way, or a cauldron with a circular saw inside it.

That's basically it, any other ideas/suggestions you have for a block that grinds stuff up? Feel free to post here.

I could imagine it being a tool, like if you put an item in the crafting box with it you get the ground-up version and the tool has one less use

But anyway, it's a great idea

No support from me...yet. It could use some more details, like a crafting recipe. But good work.

Crafting recipe could be something like a furnace/dispenser, but with a piece of iron somewhere in there for the grinding apparatus.

Maybe it could be a piece of iron surrounded by cobble.

I'm not sure if there could be any other uses, but one of them could be making "chips" of stone or other metal "nuggets". Perhaps by adding this Jeb could remove the crafting recipe for making gold nuggets out of ingots.

Yea, that was basically what I thought it could be used for, just making by-products of stuff, but without having to place/replace and break blocks over and over.

Turning stone into cobblestone without having to mine the block back up would be slightly helpful too.

I'll add fences->sticks to the OP.

Thought of another possilbe name: Masher. If it's called this maybe it should use a piston instead of an iron ingot.

Keep posting ideas for this please.

Not too bad of an idea, but it could use some work. What would it look like? The procedure to get those items? Think about your work, and I'll gladly support it.

I'm not exactly sure what the block should look like, but it should definitely reflect the name. If it's a "masher" then it should be like a piston with the arm flipped on itself. If it's a "grinder" then it should be like a cauldron with a circular saw inside it.

But what will it use to grind the blocks, it needs to use a resource or it will be too good.

It would be just like a furnace it terms of the display. Maybe with multiple output slots though.

That means it runs on all fuels that a furnace can.

EDIT: Perhaps the grinding apparatus would sometimes have to be replaced too.

I searched the "already suggested" thingy with "grinder", and "grinder block", and nothing of this sort came up.

However the concept still stands.

hey, not a criticism, just trying to consolidate discussion. one strong thread is better than two smaller ones. i personally like the idea, i'd like a larger variety of utility blocks.

I wasn't offended by what you said, I was just saying that there was no reason to not make this thread.

I like the idea. I know people have been wanting to turn items back into ther items.
