Right now, there isn't much to nether fortresses, but they are rather similar to strongholds, so i got this idea. Nether silverfish is found in silverfish blocks in form of nether brick. They look like silverfish that is retextured to look red. They do about 1.5 hearts of damage, but they set you on fire. When you attack one, nearby Nether silverfish in blocks would come out and attack you. (like the silverfish in the stronghold) maybe they just drop xp like the reqular silverfish, or maybe nether warts?

Naming it "Nether Silverfish" is completely unimaginable. I wouldn't mind some sort of strange Nether fish just as long as it isn't a complete copy of something else.

Have a better name for it? This is for nether fortresses because it is similar to strongholds.
I had an idea for a sandstone silverfish, and it used a different model to be a spider instead. Yours is just a complete copy, and servers no purpose.
Purpose: Have nether fortresses have some content similar to strongholds.
And how is it a "complete" copy? I never seen the sandstone silverfish thread before.

Agreed. While I don't want a copycat mob thrown into the nether (lol nether creeper or dark zombies), it does sound like the kind of mob to add to the nether's hellish environment, if done correctly. Sure, the others do to, but this one feels more fitting.. in a deadly swarm-type mentalitity. Add the ability to do a little more damage and have a slight chance (1 - 5% tops) of setting people on fire and you got one awesome new, deadly mob.

"I don't plan to add a new dimension at the moment. It's just to performance heavy on servers, and the current dimensions need more attention before we start adding new ones." < Yeah, like biomes or actual varied terrain in the nether. Nether ruins didn't do the trick at all.
Well, this ideas isn't very original. I like neither crawler though but I think we should focus on making the overworld more immersive before tinkering with things an average player might not be ready for.
I like the Nightcrawler idea w/ centipede like model over a simple silverfish retex. I think the nether has nowhere near enough content. So far the only things people go to the nether for is Blaze Rods and nether wart. Nobody wants nettherrak because its crazy weak and nether-brick is cool, but you have to tear apart fortresses to get it. my 3 Ideas for the Nether: 1, More mobs, I like the idea of a swarm mob but it should be outside the Fortresses because fortresses dont have a "hive" feel that nether caves give off. 2: Nether-Ores, Nobody mines in the Nether because there is nothing to mine but glowstone, soul sand, and netherrak. 3: A nether-boss, why did the end get a dragon instead of the nether! I cannot stress that enough. The Nether is a flaming dimention of lava and caves, its like... dragon paradise so why put the dragon on a platform in the End. There should be a 4-8 Chunk large Arena that spawns one time per nether with a large Dragon that shoots fire and/or lava source blocks

Come back when you have something constructive to say...
But seriously, the Nethercrawler centipede things would be a great idea...
Every mob in the nether is annoying to kill! This would be trivial in comparison.
The mob should be able to, when it dies, explode into fire and set every block within a 5 meter radius aflame!
Oh wait, that would be horrible and make people cry.
I support the modified version of this
