Yes but baby chickens in real life are a sort of pale yelow colour and that is well known so as minecrafdt is intended to be as realistic as possible it isn't such a bad idea.
The game isn't intended to be realistic -- it's ended not to break the laws of everything in existence. It's only realistic to a point. Killing a pig with a sword won't make it drop food. You'd have to go and physically remove the food of said animal, but you don't do that. Because it's not something that is necessary.
Why? That would require adding a new model to the game. There is a reason the baby animals are identical to the adults. They are just scaled down.
I have to agree with OP on this one... It just makes sense for them to be yellow. And all in all, its not game breaking or even that outlandish. Seems pretty reasonable... But I would say if they change it sometime in the future, it better be after they fix bugs and FINISH THE NETHER. (HINT HINT, MOJANG)
