I am not saying that mineshafts need to be any bigger or smaller, thats a different topic completely. Currently, there are two ways that extensions end in mineshafts. There are the dead ends, where a wall just suddenly ends the section you're in, and there are corners, where two paths join together, so instead of there being a dead end, one path transitions into the other one.
The same rule can be applied to strongholds. There is a lot more variance between different paths in strongholds, but I am very against all the dead ends that I see in mineshafts.
This. i get annoyed because I feel as if I should follow them until I clear out the whole thing. They're a breath of fresh air for me.
Not only that, but to me they also provide a certain aesthetic sense; an abandoned mine wouldn't be completely clear like people still worked in it, would it? No, there's bound to be a mysterious dead end, or a rockslide covering up a path (this happens when gravel generates in/above a pathway).

I've never thought of it like that to be honest. Good point.

That's very true. And believe me, I'm not trying to complain. I just like to think of mineshafts as more of a maze in a future update. And yes, my mines do sometimes have dead ends, but I just like mazes.

Mazes have dead ends...

Did i help or entertain you in any way? Click the up arrow in the corner, thanks!
Why do you dislike them?
