Currently, you can not place a pumkin unless there is a block under it, but then you can remove the block for it to be floating. It seems like an unnecassary step just to have a pumpkin not be supported, because they can still float when the block is removed.
This is a very minor quibble Pxex, aren't there better things to complain about? It's not like you can just place floating blocks anywhere anyway; you always have to make a block scaffold to place it then remove the scaffold. Who cares if it specifically needs the support under the pumpkin. If it were an issue of the pumpkin block had to have a dirt block underneath it at all times, that could be and issue, but this is not the case.
Extremely minor convenience post. Not worth supporting.
The ability to place blocks in the air would be annoying as you'd be trying to place a block on a surface and boom, it's right in your face. You'd have to be in the air block infront of the block you want to put a block on in order to place it there (as to place a block in the air you'd need to be able to target air blocks, and air blocks are everywhere theres no other block so they'd get in the way).

Thank you Zukaro for missing the entire point of the post. We're talking about pumpkins having to have a solid block underneath them, not placing blocks in mid air.

The way it was written makes it sound like he's talking about placing the block, as he said you cannot place a pumpkin unless there's a solid block underneith it.

But anyways; I see no issue with floating pumpkins, just about every block can float.
(I'm not sure, but don't melons also float if you remove the block from underneith?)

Minor, yes, but unneeded. It would be changed in less than an hour for the people at mojang. If there was a minor glitch that was annoying at certian times, would you want it to get fixed?
I was thinking, maybe a new texture for the bottom of the pumpkin? Because, If i remember correctly, they made pumpkins having to be placed with a block underneath because of the texture being the same as the top.
