So I've been a big minecraft fan sense the game cost 4 dollars or so. I've loved minecraft for a long time now, and recently I have come to find something I can't stand. We have absolutely no control over the biomes in any way shape or form. Other than seeds which kinda take away the randomness. I keep making worlds and I get gigantic 10000 block long oceans, massive 5000 block+ snow biomes, and patches of jungle absolutely everywhere. All the while never seeing a desert, plains, villages.
So to the suggestion. I used to play an old game called Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun. in the skirmish mode it had a map generator, and with it came sliders that you could slide back and forth to make more hills, more city's so on so forth. I think that would be a great idea in minecraft to combat this problem. Sometimes people just don't like snow biomes or tons of ocean. So I suggest that minecraft put in sliders when generating a world so that you can change the % of each biome type that appears in your individual server.
Example say in my case i hate oceans and snow biomes. I would turn my ocean slider to say 10% and my snow biome slider to 10% while i keep plains, deserts, and forests at say 50%.
So yeah let me know what you all think. Hopefully this will get enough traction to actually get minecrafts attention.
The way I see it is that all minecraft players are different. We all like, and hate different biomes types. The ability to customize ones random server generation would let every player tailor his server to his likes and needs.
Right now i'm trying to do a City builder challenge on insane difficulty with my friend, but we can't find any good land to build the city on. we've haven't been cheating so we've been running around for a good 4-6 in game days, and nights (2 of which were in a snow biome) and still haven't found anything good. we actually didn't even find forest for a good 3000-5000 blocks. Maybe were just unlucky, but its a pain sometimes.
I agree in full with this. I've been stuck on Islands in the middle of oceans, I've been trapped in mega-forests, and I get annoyed. I'd make a map where there is a plateau in the middle, then, like a clock, sections stretching our from the plateau that are each different biomes. That way, you can literally walk 2 blocks between a desert and an arctic tundra. Realistic? No... Satisfying. Definitely.
