I believe there should be an online saving feature in the game. If there is ever the need to switch computers, going back to your worlds you created is a breeze!
The whole idea is that alot of games out there based from the internet have the info stored inside the online profile itself, not the computer's memory. I've had to change computers and still had my minecraft account. I figured that i could go back to my worlds just as they were. Apparently not.
My thinking is that people would buy the game and play their hearts out, of course. But, what if their computer died? They go back to their account, try going back to their worlds they created, and they find out their worlds are gone! They get ticked off and stop playing and start complaining about it. That means less people will play which means less money for the developers.
Please heed my warning and think about this idea, Minecraft developers.
Not sure what you are asking. You want the Mojang servers to store your personal online server? Or are you saying you want their servers to store your SMP maps? Keep in mind that means they get bogged down with every single map anyone ever makes.
The server overload would be enormous. I don't know anyone insane enough to pay for server space for (assuming every player has at least 3 worlds, which is probably average) 6,175,587 (the number of purchased games when I checked) times 3 worlds; or 18526761 worlds.
There are definitely a lot more; I know I personally have about 10 worlds, five for me, five for my little bro.
Keep your worlds on a flashdrive; it's safer in case the servers ever go down and you can move it to a computer without internet, like a laptop.
Simplify the coding? I don't know! They could figure that part out. This has nothing to do with code, it has to do with servers. People pay to use server space. The more you have/the larger the server is, the more you pay.
The developers could also limit the amount of worlds one can make and allow them more worlds if they provide extra funds. No thanks. I don't want to pay just because I want to see new terrain.

Okay the ONLY way I could see this working is this:
Players can decide to upgrade their accounts to a higher rank, lets say platinum. To upgrade, there will be a fee that can either last forever or last for a month (if it lasted for a month, then the player would have to keep paying to reap the benefits of being 'platinum'.
Now, being a Platinum member would enable the player have one world save saved under their account name, if the player wanted more world saves, then they would have to pay extra.
The reason I say that the players have to pay is that it costs money to keep a server (which would be holding all of the world saves) on. so the players money would cover those fees.
Another thing is that the players do not play directly off these servers (where the worlds are kept), they can just choose to download/Upload a world to them at will.
The player has the option to remove a world from a server and replace it with another.
