Bare with me here some of you may so oh this is not needed you can use a switch or redstone torch or blah blah.
Yea you can but why waste it? I always seem to have a great amount of string and now that you can place string I think a cool way to use tnt would me to use string as a fuse...
You place it set it on fire and run for the hills xD
That would be one great way to use tnt and without wasting redstone.
Its only a small suggestion nothing big and nothing that would screw up minecraft.
Well redstone takes a steel or better pick to mine. String could be a quicker way to use tnt from a distance. Sure you could use a lever hit it and run.
Yea and if your not mining there is an alternate way to get distance from all your tnt. String... I play on hard and after day 1 I always have over 60 string...
Now I can't say the same for everyone eles, but it's just an alternate way to do something.
You can easily get away from TNT as it is; the time it takes for the block to ignite is roughly five seconds or so, providing ample time to "head for the hills."
An alternate way to do something would have to be sufficiently different enough so as not to seem like a redundant feature. While it can be an early on method of lighting explosives from a safe distance, redstone can quickly replace that later on.
Would the fuse take a certain amount of time before the spark reaches the TNT? Perhaps each block of fuse you place down would equal about a second of time, and one the spark hits, the TNT would detonate immediately with no delay. There would have to be a limit, of course, or something to prevent TNT from being detonated too quickly to be considered fair.
Let's say that for every block of fuse that is set down and connected to the TNT, one second will be taken away from the TNT's inherent delay until it reaches zero. Then one can place as many more fuses as they want for inexpensive and simple delays for puzzles or elaborate traps.

I like how you said the tnt fuse delay that would make it better.. Also it would be no different than charcoal. There is loads and loads of coal out there. It's just an easier way to get torches. It's really no different then what i'm suggesting..
Yea there could be some kinda upside for using the "fuse" made of string as you said make a 1 second delay for each string or something.
this idea has been used in mods and i think it would be nice. however, i generally have only a small bit of string as i use it for fishing rods and bows. redstone on the other hand, i have so much that i don't bother to mine it anymore!.
still is worth recomending to jeb
Bump I think this deserve a few more people telling me what they think.
No bumping threads please.
Also, fuses that work like redstone have been suggested many times before. Please search before posting.

Tell me what you think.
Not a bad idea in itself, it's just a bit unnecessary.
