I had an idea about feathers the other day.
When you drop them, they should fall slower than other items, and move back and forth slightly.
Also, you should be able to go to a passive mob and 'tickle' them.
You right click with the feather an they jump back oinking (or mooing, bahhing, ect.)
But from then on, when you come near the mob, it comes to you and puts its head up and a heart comes out.
Eh, Mojang's time could probably be better spent figuring out the Mod UI, among other things, but I wouldn't mind seeing this.
However, I do see a use in this, in the fact that it could be a sort of "timer" for redstone machinery, although that already exists in the form of redstone repeaters.

Really, what are you waiting for?
Aside from the mistake, the idea is actually useless.
You're missing out, every father I've seen does that.
I support, Minecraft has always been about the odd quirks for me.
We're all friends here... Except for the walrus in the corner, he spits at passerby.
