I understand some of this may be too long to read for some people, but this kind off stuff has been in my head for a while and think this should be added. Please state your opinion!
Paintings:
Paintings are simple, neat items in the game, but they can sometimes be annoying in a way of placing them. For a fix, when the player places down the painting, a menu come up showing the paintings that are able to fit in the given space, the player can selct the desired painting and it will apear on the wall.
Custom Paintings:
The addition of the Book and quill allowed us to customize books. What if we could customize paintings with different colored quills? Placing a feather and any dye in a crafting grid will create the quill, when you have the colors you want, you can left click on a painting that is already placed and create your drawing.
Sponges:
Sponges are only available in Creative Mode, and they are purely for decoration. A use for them could be to quickly
remove all water source blocks in a certain radius, this could be helpful to people wanting to make underwater structures. To craft them, you could place 4 peices of wool(any color) in a crafting grid, just like how the clay brick block or snow block is crafted.
Enchantments:
Ice aspect(swords and bows)- When hit, a mob will permanetly turn in to an ice statue, the player will not recieve any experience or the mobs items untill the mob is mined with a wooden pickaxe. This can be good for decoration. Thor(swords and bows)- When a mob is hit, it will suddenly be struck by lightning. (Don't use on creepers) Battleaxe(axes)-Gives an axe the ability to be deadly to mobs, it has a little bit more damage than a sword. Shotgun(bows)- Gives a bow the ability to shoot 3 or more(depending on the level of enchantment) arrows at the same time. Distance(bows)- Increases the range of the bows depending on the level of enchantment. Spore(swords and bows)- When killed by the weapon, the mob drops a spawn egg of the mob type.
Nether:
Of course, you can survive in the nether, but it would be even better if you could prosper like you can in the main world. There should be ores(don't have to be the same) and a way to craft tools and weapons using plaze rods instead of sticks. Minecarts can be a way of getting around by being a lava boat, as Notch mentioned a while ago.
Skylands:
This is something that should have been added a long time ago, an opposite realm to the Nether, somthing similar to the Aether Mod. You should be able to prosper their like the main world. To get around easier, airplanes or blimps will be introduced, or a tameable flying mob. The End by no means should be the Skyland realm.
Biome Specific Structures:
As we have seen in previous snaphot updates, Jungle temples and Pyramids have been added, what if in ocean bioms we could see sunken ships or abandoned shacks in forests?
Also coral reefs could be added to oceans offering different kinds of fish and farmable water plants. Weeping willow trees can be added to swamp biomes.
Mobs & Bosses:
Mobs:
Eel: Hostile water mob found primarily in shipwrecks,(Super Mario 64 reference)gives player shock damage. Drops 0-4 Shock Charges(listed under Items)
Pigmen: Passive, Hostile when provoked. Make more advanced villages than the standard villagers. Have the same proffesions than the regular villagers but have better and more reasonable trading. They do have one more proffesion-Knight- which bears hide or iron armor and carries gold swords(like zombie pigmen) Knights however, will not trade, but can be "tamed" and follow you around and protect you.
Fish: Passive water mob, needs an area of 20x20x5 of water to spawn(lxwxh) and an area of 50x50x12 to spawn a school. Different speicies of fish together can be found in coral reefs.
Red Dragon: As mentioned by Notch, they are kind of like mini-bosses, they spawn in extreme hills biomes and drop tressures like emeralds and gold, arrows and armor, as well as fire charges.
Herobrine: Passive, hostile when provoked. He follows you around at a distance, he is misterious and keeps an eye on you. He rips leaves off of trees and also creates weird structures. He haunts you but never touches you, if you see him, he dissapears in the nearest dark place. If you attack him, he will attack you in different ways, like setting your house on fire or creating traps infront of your house or path. He spawns only once per world, and drops valubles when killed.
Bosses:
Giant-Boss of the overworld: It must be summoned using a Thor enchanted iron sword that strikes an Obsidian Block, It must be climbed up on its back and hit on the head several times with a sword to be defeated, after you hit him, he throws you back on the ground. His weapon is a hammer and his fist. When defeated, he drops 10 obsidian blocks and a key that opens a door to a loot room that the player must find.
Serpent-Boss of the Nether: It is summoned throwing 10 ghast tears in a lava lake, it then slivers out of the lava and crawls all over the floor, ceiling and walls of the nether, you must cut off all sections of the Serpent to kill it. It has a total of 10 sections. It spits fire charges and bites you as its attack. When killed, it drops Skyland portal blocks and a key to a loot room found in a Nether Fortress.
Mantis-Boss of the Skylands: It is a giant flying insect that bites and scoops you up and dropps you, Its weakness is fire, so be supplied with weapons with fire aspect enchantments or flint and steel. It is summoned by creating a totem using glowstone and and obsidian and lighting the top of it with flint and steel. It drops a key to a dungeon that has a loot room at the end.
Items:
Shock Charge: When thrown,
it gives a mob shock damage, can not be crafted, dropped by Eels.
Obsidian tools: The next step up from Diamond tools, it must be crafted from obsidian blocks and blaze rods. A pickaxe mine the Ender Dragon Egg so it can be obtainable. The tools also have really powerful enchantments.
Tools and Armor of Ender: Created by crafting obsidian armor and tools with Eyes of Ender and Endstone. It is the most efficent tools and armor, it can be used over hundreds of thousands of times and are transported to Ender Chests if you get killed. If you wear a chest plate it transports all your items in your inventory to Ender Chests. They also have insanely advanced enchantments.
Keys: Can be crafted out of gold nuggets and assigned to different chests and doors, although the keys that the bosses drop can not be crafted. In SMP, you must have placed the chest or door to assign it a key.
Good idea, but no herobrine whatsoever. Similar to another person's barbarian idea, this is just too annoying and no one really wants herobrine anyway. The pigmen should still be cheap, and perhaps lean towards battle more than villagers, with pigman knights serving as their protectors and spawning more abundantly. They could be similar to zombie pigmen but with more health and a tactic of hit and run or fight until near death based on their type, as there would be two types: Desert Pigknights and Plains Pigknights. Also I dislike huts, sunken ships, eels, or your boss summon idea. Bosses should spawn in a structure that wil spawn in a random place in the overworld, and can be entered manually or through a boss portal. Once boss is defeated, it can be fought again in a different structure in a different place with a different layout and mabye a different setting, until it is defeated once in each structure. The portal takes you to one of them, after which it will only go to that structure.
Many of the things you suggested are overpowered. I don't mind sponges (as long as they stay creative-only) and custom paintings, but most of the other things you said are overpowered or those god-awful oversuggested ideas like obsidian tools.
Thor(swords and bows)- When a mob is hit, it will suddenly be struck by lightning. (Don't use on creepers)
Battleaxe(axes)- Gives an axe the ability to be deadly to mobs, it has a little bit more damage than a sword.
Nether:
I thought it would make more since making one thread than flooding the entire topic.I meant make one topic than making tons.
also, i like the sunken ships, ive made a texture pack with rusted iron and knotted wood
