NPC villages; Something of a disappointment. The lack of building variety and small size of villages greatly contribute to this problem. But that could change! Under .minecraft what should be added is a folder, a folder in which you can put schematics of buildings, buildings that will be added in accordance to a config file also in .minecraft. You can add buildings to the folder, and then tell the game how often and where to generate them. Of course, some way of telling the game where on the building the front is would also be necessary, as you want the front of the building to be facing the street. The consequences of this would be largely positive and far reaching, Say you want your villagers to be more civilized, perhaps you would give them a museum, or a library? Have a ready made house for yourself in every village? The possibilities are endless. Why in a schematic file, you ask? Well, simply because almost all minecraft buildings available for download and distribution on the web today are either in a world save (very cumbersome), or a schematic. Perhaps you are disgusted by the primitive rural style of architecture in all villages. Maybe you like rural architecture, but not the stuff Notch and company has provided. Just configure the Mojang buildings to never spawn and replace them with your own.

in a way i find this very clever i think that this should be implemented for veriety is everything and i think that maybe creators and scriptors could benefit from this. i hardly ever say this but "good on you my boy"
Ah Shadow, I was thinking almost the exact same thing. If there is an online database of builds there has to be some way to see what is truly going to generate when you download it, not just pictures that could be complete bull.
It might be a pain to program, with the whole issue of how much size is in a village, and how much room to space out between buildings, but I'm sure somebody could do it.
