Tripwires should be able to be avoided by sneaking which adds benefit to being cautious when doing adventure maps and dungeons and the like. Also, sneaking has very few adventure benefits aside from not falling off blocks and this adds more.
yea, i noticed that hugging the wall doesnt activate them, but in my personal opinion i would prefer that sneaking not activate them and hugging the wall be removed.
I personally disagree. Just sneak and you are trap-proof? This would make sneaking ridiculous. Besides, if you are sneaking, you have no excuse for not noticing the tripwire. Cut it or jump over.
Sneaking alone should still activate it. As said before, sneaking allowing you to become immune to traps is quite overpowered. However... since sneaking lowers you height slightly, if it would be possible to jump over them while sneaking, then I think that would be pretty balanced. It still requires skill to time your jump.

If this happened, the point of having tripwires would be gone. It would make jungle shrines easy to get in and out of, and player traps, which should be improved by tripwires, be ruined since all players would now make sure to sneak in almost all situations.
