First Off thanks for all your hard work. I know you get paid to do this but I'm sure you appreciate it all the same. Secondly Minecraft is awesome, I have played it for over a year and a half and I daresay I will try other games but I seem to come back to Minecraft. That being said I have always taken the good with the bad, never coming on to complain about bugs nor taking the time to come on before and voice any sort of opinions either good or bad. After playing for so long I feel like I have a really good handle on the game as a whole and delight in it's complexities. Now normally I wouldn't make a suggestion as my idea's are usually elsewhere and this one may come as no surprise I have two suggestions one out of frustration and the other as just a quick idea. So lets get into it.
For the last year or so I have been playing on a multitude of privately run multilayer servers. As I'm sure you can relate there are alot out there, more then I could ever play on. Alot of them have different mods and admin tools and all sorts of things, heck I have looked into hosting my own server, I've run one on a lan before as me and my stepson play alot together and have loads of fun. Now for the survival servers I have noticed that alot try to create a sort of economical situation, some succeed and some not so much. Minecraft has facilitated this by giving us the hunger ability and adding food stuffs which make up the main fabric of our real life economy so it is only natural to extend that in game to broaden Minecraft as a whole. I applaud you in your efforts as it has worked and food stuffs can create a viable economic servers as a basic backbone to get started with. The only problem is that the hunger is tied in with the difficulty. Now to look at the hunger system it's only natural that you would want to offer a scale to the player so that there are different options, so that if they do run out of hunger they get sick and loose health. To tell you the truth I think a player should die if they don't eat, the only problem I have is that that level is tied in with the Hard difficulty. The problem I have with that is I hate hard mode. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to lash out at it, I generally don't like hard mode because it is so hard, monster kill you in seconds, creepers wage an unrelenting guerrilla war of impossible odds. So I hate hard mode because I like to build and I don't like to fight. So Please Jeb.... Can you help me!?!?
To help me I would only ask that you do one thing. Have two difficulty sliders. One for the normal difficulty to control creatures and one to the difficulty of hunger. This would mean that not just me, but other servers could be a peaceful place and still die of starvation, if they wanted to. That's what I would like for my server. I'm sure I could get a bunch of mods to do something like that true, but I would believe that the game as a whole would benefit from this ability which is all I hope for, so that more people (I don't know who hasn't been playing minecraft yet) will continue to play this amazing game.
Oh also if you please I thought of a useful block. I like to make games for minecraft players to play. I came up with a great idea where I have made a building and along the four walls a song plays, now for a 15 second "clip" of the song it stands in a building 8 blocks wide, 30 blocks high and 64 blocks long, i have arranged four of these buildings in a square where I have minecarts go around in a circle till the music stop a "Musical Chairs" game. What I would really like to see is a speaker block. A block that I can place and what it does is steals the sound of any noteblock played in it's chunk or surrounding chunks if necessary. So I could have this building of noteblocks and when the song played it would only come out of the "Speaker" block and not the note blocks themselves. This would allow players to make huge underground songs and have it play in the block beside them. I'm sure it could be put to all sorts of uses. So I hope it would be helpful.
Anyways, I hope you please change the hunger system I would find it immensely greater, or if you have a quick second to jump on and say hi and that I should go away that is cool too.

TL:DR He wants a slider bar for difficulty and how much the hunger bar hurts you separate to make the game easy against mobs but still has a survival aspect.
Also he wants a "speaker" block which plays all of the noteblocks together so people don't have the music fade away as the blocks get farther away.
Honestly I love these suggestions and it wouldn't hurt to add them in the game at all. I would have no use for the speaker but I see where you're coming from. Just a heads up, the Mojang team doesn't read these forums, sorry for bursting your bubble but I thought you should know. Maybe someone will stumble upon this thread, who knows.
