Hello all. So, as we know, a new Oreset is being added in the next update, Emerald. Apparently though, Ruby was going to be added but that was changed. Now, I'm one of those people that doesn't like seeing nice ideas die (ahem, GEARS ;P), so I had an idea for what to do with Ruby, and a new Oreset with it, Sapphire:
I think some variety (such as this) would be nice for MC. Instead of having 1 log-cabin orientated culture, we would have a very diverse sphere of influence. If this doesn't sound good for the main game, maybe i'll make a mod. Also, if i'm doing something wrong posting here or anything, please let me know, still not 100% used to this forum's policies yet! Thank you for reading!
This is a pretty good idea. However I feel that new gems added should have some unique use as well, otherwise they're just doing the same job as emeralds.
And having problems with exchange rates (or lack thereof). But the effort needed to implement something like this, doesn't match the practical output it would have on gameplay (aside from the neatness factor).
Plus Jeb is already expanding the structure types to match most of the biomes.

Villagers (Testificates) use Emerald as currency, so I thought making separate kinds of Villagers (races) that fit in with specific Biomes (Desert Villages could be Arabian or Egyptian/Nubian influenced, Wooded/Plains Villages would stay the same, Coastal and Aqua villages could be Japanese/Pacifican themed) could preserve a different form of currency, and possibly language. For example, Desert race Villagers (We'll call them Marauders from here on out) could speak or write in Arabic or something similar (could be decoded into whatever language you speak by trading and helping a village, like Millénaire). Coastal Villagers (Tethys) could speak or write in Japanese. Highland villagers (Teutonics) could speak or write German mixed with Scandinavian languages. Regular villagers (Testificates) would speak whatever language you speak, as a sort of "starter" culture. Buildings could be modeled after these cultures, they could have physical differences, skin color etc. Marauders would use Sapphire as currency, Tethys would use Emerald as currency, and Teutonics would use Ruby. Testificates can use any of those, but I think Diamond would be good, seeing as the Precious Gems circle is complete that way.
