Strongholds are the abandoned Structures of Minecraft. It has that haunted feeling, but you are rewarded when you explored it. When you explore it, mobs surround you around the corner, and ambush you when they have that chance. I'm about to present to you a new Biome that has the same feeling, but a larrger feel... The Ruins.
I know what you all are thinking. You all are probably thinking this is another entity, just like the Village. Well I'm telling you, surprisingly, it is not. It is a very mini Biome, but still insanely immense compared to the largest Village any world could spawn, even if somehow two managed to spawn together. I also know you're probably thinking I took this from Fallen Kingdom. No, that's not where I got this from. I just wanted a small biome in which adventure is the main theme.
Appearance:
A Ruins Biome is basically a Biome that is a very large kingdom without a castle. But you're probably wondering, where did I get the name Ruins then? Well it's pretty self-explanatory the whole kingdom will be in Ruins, and also overtaken by nature. Vines are there to take over many of the cobblestone and wooden houses. The average houses are very large compared to the small huts in Villages. About a quarter of the Biome is considered to be the "Rich" part of the kingdom, and will have houses even larger than the library and big houses combined. It will have lots of furniture such as Tables, Chairs, Cooking, Lighting, Beds all that. There's also the "Standard" part of the kingdom, which composes of houses that have 4X4 space. It contains adequate furniture such as tables (Village Tables), beds and chairs (Stairs). Lastly, there's the "Poor" part of the kingdom which is composed of those small huts with no furniture in them. The roads are made of cobblestone and dirt. Nature has overtaken it, so you will see trees in the roads sometimes. You will see much larger portions of the things in Villages, like Butchers will have Restaurants, Priests will have huge churches, etc.
History:
It was a fine old kingdom, all peaceful and subtle. Then, mobs attacked it, and the Iron Golems did the best they could do to fight back. They lost, and the mobs overtook the Kingdom. That was a long time ago. Now, it has been overtook by nature, and enemy mobs everywhere are thriving in their beloved old kingdom.
What to do:
The point of adding in such a small biome, would be that of the same as a stronghold, only it's above ground, it's rare just as the Stronghold, and to top it off, Chests! Yes, I said it; the Kingdom has chests! Now here's the adventure part: Because nature has overtaken the Kingdom, the trees cast shadows, and enemy mobs tend to spawn there, and roam the biome. They will be literally everywhere, especially creepers. They all will be hiding around every corner around every place. Although this does defy the un-dead dying during the morning, a lot of shady places in the Kingdoms are placed, so don't think you can just waltz in there unprepared. Now the chests can be found anywhere from 6-8 chests, and they are found in houses or churches, etc. They give you about 5-15 items randomly but specifically from least to more rare, meaning the chance of getting a Rare is less likely:
Apple
Bread
String
Wheat
Cocoa Beans
Bucket
Saddle
Iron
Gold
Diamond (Only One Per Chest!)
Music CD (Only One!)
Yep, I said Diamonds and Music. Why? Because Kingdoms were often rich for the most part, and Diamonds represent their wealth the most. You'll most likely find them in the Rich Part, although not entirely. You only find 0-2 Diamonds max in a Ruins Biome. Music CDs also will appear because music was important to culture, and well, here you go. Only two maximum will spawn.
Also, it's a great sight-see, even though it was all ruined. Buildings have collapsed, Some buildings remain but overtaken by vines, etc.
That's about it. Note: I repeat from way above: I didn't copy this from Fallen Kingdom. I wanted a more adventurous mini biome to find more loot in.
Sorry this post isn't the best I had made. I will improve on this.
Not bad, not bad. I like the idea of having a biome that players WANT to come back to (but not live in). Reminds me of those purple biome things in terrarria, which players always desire to go to for cool items and such. Viny ruins are always good. Also, maybe some weak potions and lowly enchanted tools (possibly with some durability already gone!) could be added, those always seem awesome to find. With some biome specific mobs I think this would be pretty cool.
No support. Seems like something that wouldn't remotely fit well into the minecraft universe.
Okay, so would it make sense that Strongholds fit into the Minecraft universe? A lot of people do (or I think they do), and this is basically in specific terms, a much much bigger version of the stronghold, mixed in with a VIllage together.
you could find a prison in the bottom of the castle full of the NPCS. there will mostly be guards who are being guarded by monsters. when you free them they will help you remove all of the monsters. then regular npcs will begin living there again.
This seems like a pretty cool idea... for a mod. Some things fit well in Minecraft, for bonuses and stuff, but this goes a tad bit less than other possible things.
Don't get me wrong, I love the idea.
I think I'll include this as an idea for a mod I have a low possibility of making.
