I love that possible idea of being able to build a decorative statue version of the golem. I would love to place a bunch of amazing silent sentries around the perimeter of my stately mansion.
This is something that is stupidly appropriate and should have been included as soon as pyramids were implemented. Maybe the guardian should cast mining fatigue on players like sea temple guardians do, so players can't avoid defeating it before looting the pyramid? Also, it'd be cool if they had a small chance (like 2.5% like a Wither Skeleton or something) to drop their head, as a cool souvenier!
Just curious... what happens if you spawn an iron golem near it? Will the iron golem attack?

This isn't your average "new golem" post, so it's easy to see how this ended up in the suggestions hall of fame. I personally love this suggestion, as desert temple loot is currently way too easy. There have been times where I have spawned in a world, found a temple, and instantly have a diamond sword/pickaxe. Also, who doesn't love more minibosses? If this were implemented, I could see some of this "temple guardian" treatment finding its way to the Jungle Temple as well. (Which is also ridiculously easy to raid.) Support. I might even have to update my signature...

Any consideration to the suggestion about it dropping an ancient power core? Maybe it could be crafted with a pumpkin to give your golems their power source. Sure, it'd make golem-building a bit harder, but it'd be worth it.

Although....
A lot has changed since 2012, and it's now possible to summon the Wither and make the Ender Dragon respawn using a fairly single purpose item...

Sounds great. I have few concerns though. So this boss has 50 hearts or 100 health, and drops among others 10 levels (which is exactly 225 exp btw). However, the Wither boss, which seems harder (especially on high difficulties) to fight anyway (flying, hella fast, strong poison effect, ranged attack, explosions etc.) has 150 hearts/300 health and drops only 50 experience points. You should either buff boss itself (I'd like this) or nerf amount of xp reward.
Also, fighting it seems easy: I can either make several pillars of hard material and hide behind when I need, or just build myself up even with cheap dirt and kill it with bow. Its auto-heal won't help much. If I may suggest, this boss (as it's made of gold, after all) should be either fully or partially invulnerable for normal arrows.
Not to mention that Desert Temples are rather small (very little amount of space for charging), and have a lot of pillars to hide behind. This place wasn't intended for a boss, it should be re-made bigger.

This thread was first made before the wither existed, the HP and stats are a bit different in comparison to the new boss standard. and thanks for the exp count =P I'll likely drop it top 50 from 225 and raise the hp to 200HP (100♥)

I could have sworn it was resistant to ranged attacks, this thread has changed a lot over the last 5 years and things have been lost here and there.

I would love to see a bigger variant of desert temples to house the boss, but that is up to Mojang entirely

Wow! Amazing idea! Though there should be more adventure to the temples like make it bigger with lava pits ect. its just what I think!
